Yesterday, I was in school. I got there around 8:30am and I found out that I had to wait for seven long hours for the person I had to see — don’t ask me who I had to see and what I want from him or her. Basically, it was a bad day for me.

I don’t like to go back home as I had to meet that person that I’m talking about. At first, I wasn’t doing anything. I was just there, sitting and looking at the looong line of students who were enrolling. I even had to resist myself from surfing the internet as it would cost me some money and I had only limited amount of funds yesterday. And it really sucks that I was not bringing a book to read yesterday.

Good thing the library was open. No, I did not read books there as there are no interesting books in our library. What I did was read the newspapers there. There were lots of stacks of the PDI that were not archived yet. I did not read everything as it’s not a good idea for reading outdated news. I only read the Super and 2bu sections and the column Youngblood (I was also looking for the column Highblood but I only found one) of the PDI. I had a great time reading them. Very interesting subjects. Much interesting than those blogs that sprouted like mushroom from nowhere lately (but not all).

And I think reading this kind of stuff would surely make me inspired!

Here are some articles that I suggest: The ghost (very hilarious), Jeepneys and Airplanes (can relate this one) and Remembrance of things past (and this one too).

Oh, I originally read this news in the PDI about the bulge. It really made me laugh for hours (until now)! [EDIT] And for those people who are taking NSTP you might also like to read this one. [/EDIT]

Have you already experienced asking yourself “Hey! Where did I read that?” after remembering a quote or a line from the things that you’ve read? Well, I usually experience this. It really racks my brain whenever I ask myself that question, and most of the times, that question remains unanswered.

Does that means I’m getting older? Lol! Yeah, I think so. I’ll celebrate my birthday next month which coincides with Talamasca’s birthday. And that reminds me that Christmas is just around the corner. Please, stop shortcutting the word Christmas into X-mas or xmas… when did the letter X start to represent the word “christ”. This ain’t Math! And oh, don’t start calling me Xian! Lol!

I was browsing the Philippine Daily Inquirer yesterday and I found this spread (Super) with pictures of the PBB teen housemates minus Clare posed as caricatures of ‘this generation’. [EDIT] I’m not a PBB fan. [/EDIT] No, they were not the ones who caught my attention, it were the words “Teendependence day”.

Actually, there was only one article inside the spread titled “Drugs. Sex. Sloth. Please.” and here is the lead:

We decided to do a spread on what a lot of people say our generation is — apathetic, sex-crazy, media-obsessed, religionless drugies with parental issues and mondo insecurity.

Why? Because we can.

Pepe Diokno

And after a few more paragraphs…

We decided to do a spread what a lot of people say our generation is because we realize a lot of you read us to find out what’s cool and we need to tell you shouldn’t be doing that.

Because it’s never been about going with the flow and fitting in. It’s not about what’s in and out. It’s not about what you’ve tried and what you haven’t. We’re the ME generation — it’s about creating our own flows.

It’s about creating your own cool.

Pepe Diokno
