Site-ender Entry

I suppose this is going to be my last post here. In two days time, I’ll be opening my brand new site. I’ll put here the ten most notable things that happened since I opened this site almost two years from now in order of occurrence.

  • I decided to use WordPress as my blogging software since manual blogging is very hard to maintain. Alas, my posts from February 2005 up to early March 2005 were all deleted because I messed up with my WordPress.
  • It was February 13, 2005 here in the Philippines when my grandfather from my mother side had died in the USA.
  • It was my first time to witness a conclave via news.
  • I ended up as the news editor of our school paper for two consecutive years.
  • July 2005, I ran for the Student Council but I did not win.
  • I and my classmates had our retreat back in January. Actually, it is exactly a year now.
  • On February 04 of this year, a big accident happened here in the Philippines. The Ultra stampede occurred back then.
  • March means graduation to me. Well, I landed as the first honorable mention of our batch (without exerting too much effort). I was also able to bag other awards. Oh, IÂ’m not bragging about them.
  • College is a bit freaky. And I hate it. CanÂ’t we just skip college?
  • The seventh of September marks my first serious encounter with death. My grandfather from my father side died. I miss my grandfather so much.

I’m supposed to search my database for the most longest comment, the comment author with the most comments, and the like but as I am very busy and tired because of watching, I can’t. Actually, I’m supposed to be reviewing right now for an exam tomorrow.

I will close all comment forms on January 07, as I want everything in my current database make it to my new home. To all those people who already know my link, kindly update my link. Thanks! However, to those people who wish to know my new link, just use the contact form bellow or post your comment.

Yearend Entry: 2006

I reckon this is my last post for this year as I’m very busy. I have not even finished doing Choice.

Here are the notable things that happen throughout the whole year!

  • I and my classmates had our retreat back in January. The place and food was so great. I really thought I would not enjoy our retreatÂ… and now, IÂ’m still savoring all of the things that we did there. If itÂ’s possible to have a part two (or even a part three) of our retreat, IÂ’ll join! Aww… I’m being nostalgic.
  • On February 04 of this year, a big accident happened here in the Philippines. The Ultra stampede occurred back then. It was the first anniversary of the number one noon time show in the country, Wowowee. Instead of 20 tricycles, some taxi cabs and two million pesos (about $40,000) of prizes at stake. Lives of many people were in danger.
  • I had my first (yeah, first) camping. It was a requirement for graduation. How stupid is that? Nevertheless, I enjoyed it.
  • March means graduation to me. Well, I landed as the first honorable mention of our batch (without exerting too much effort). I was also able to bag other awards. Oh, I’m not bragging about them. Habemus valedictorian! Can’t we have an another conclave?
  • College is a bit freaky. And I hate it. Can’t we just skip college? Haha. IÂ’m still in the “culture shock” mode; IÂ’m having a hard time doing some conversations with my new classmates.
  • The seventh of September marks the death of my grandfather. I miss my grandfather so much. (Please, stop me, I’m getting a bit teary.) I am so glad that I was able to had a grandparent like him. He was so generous to me. I could still remember during my pre-school years that he brings and gets me to school everyday and if there was a new toy available from one of the two biggest fast food chains in the country, he would bring me there and buy me the toy that I like.
  • I had my luckiest day this year back in November when I got PHP 50.00 worth of pre-paid load and PHP 125.00 in cash! My original plan last Friday was that I would only watch the quiz bee so as to support my blockmates and after it, I would go back home.
  • I got a new domain! (I sent e-mail to those people who regularly visit my site about it.)
  • I had my most boring Christmas. As for my birthday, it was not that good but not that bad too.
  • Starting tonight, we are — as how I like to call it — maid-less again.

This time, my favorite entries during the whole year:

Feel free to comment on these posts!

Happy 2007 to everyone!

Mega ultra stampede

[EDIT] Someone was able to hack (sort of) my site. He/she changed the latest entry on my gbook stating that I stole the script that I used for my gbook. No, I did not steal it! It’s from codegrrl.com. I have a link to codegrrl over the links page! For the mean time, I will disable my askme and gbook. [/EDIT]

Today is the first anniversary of ABS-CBN’s noon time show Wowowee. Frankly speaking, I hate this noon time show. Well, because there are so few hosts and guests. But you have to know that this show is not for those people who are looking for entertainment (sort of); this show is for our poor countrymen who are trying to catch their lucks. A show that tells the people who are living in the slums that there is still hope. But there is still this fact that some are joining the games of Wowowee because of their personal necessities. Until now, I can’t believe that this noon time show have a very high ratings (am I right?).

The first anniversary of the said noon time show was to held at Ultra. But an unexpected accident happened.

The world turned up-side down in just a second.

A big twist of fate.

Instead of 20 tricycles, some taxi cabs and two million pesos (about $40,000) of prizes are at stake. Lives of many people were in danger. A stampede occurred this morning. If my resources are up-to-date and are correct, there are already 80 plus people who died, mostly are elderly women.

I only knew this news around 11:00am because I was surfing the internet. At first I was thinking, “Stampede at Ultra? Hu? Is there an event there at the moment? Is there a concert? Was there a bomb found that’s why there was a stampede?”

The reason: somebody tripped on a ramp. Very impossible eh? I can’t believe it that only because someone tripped, a stampede occurred.

The consequences: aside from those 80 plus people who died, there were hundreds of people who were injured, many children were lost in the midst of that tragedy and Wowowee’s first anniversary was not pushed through.

While I was watching the news, I got irritated again. Well, I was flipping the channels from ABS-CBN to GMA over and over again (the news was not yet at CNN nor BBC). And grr… there was this women that was interviewed by a reporter from GMA. She’s telling the reporter that she’s mad because she was not able to enter the auditorium. Wow! Does not she have any single piece of feeling? There was a mayhem that happened and then there are still stupid people who does not have any common sense! This is going to support my statement above (that those people who are joining Wowowee are greedy).

It’s so nice to hear that there are still many people who are helping these poor people. I even heard in the news that there are some who are giving flip flops to the victims. And I’m so glad that the management of ABS-CBN will shoulder all the expenses of the victims even though they have no faults whatsoever.

This day was supposed to be a good one for all of the people who went to Ultra, and now, it seems like that a dementor sucked all of our happiness.

This is the irony of life…

This is my way to express my sympathy to the families of the victims…
