PA - E01: A Pair of Pear

Download mp3

Oh! Look! This is the first episode of Podcasteeg. Well, I still haven’t achieved my preferred accent and my voice really sucks, but I have decided to do this because I want to try it. I had fun doing it.

I used Audacity to and my built-in microphones on my notebook to record this episode. I haven’t used any music because I don’t want to breach any copyright law. Anybody knows where I can download GPL music? And if you have a suggestion on mind, please tell me about it.

Forgive me for the wrong grammars that I have commited, and my awful and horrible voice.

Hello and welcome to the first ever episode of Podcasteeg. This is Christian Evangelista of Asteeg.Net, that’s A-S-T-E-E-G-dot-N-E-T. So, uh, today’s 07.07.07 or July 07, 2007. Lucky day? Uh… no, I don’t think so. Uh, though seven is favorite number, I still don’t think that this is a lucky day. Neither numbers nor dates dictate our luckiness. I still think that it’s still up to you if you would want this day to be lucky or not.

Okay, moving on, uh, well, school is crazier nowadays. Everything is different. As what one of my ex-blockmate had said, if in our first year, it is us who make our selves stressed, now, the sight of our school is enough to make you feel stressed. What’s more is that in two weeks time, ya, two weeks time or 14 days, we will already have our prelims. and that spells B-U-S-Y, and that’s busy! Well, at least, I’m enjoying my English class right now. Uh, currently, we’re on phonetic transcription or whatever you call it. Our professor told us that it is easy, ya, I think it is. But sometimes, it can be a bit confusing, especially if you don’t know how to pronounce words correctly. For example, the words S-T-A-I-R and S-T-A-R-E are supposed to be pronounced the same. That’s stair and stare. Why are you staring at the stair? Likewise, with the words P-E-A-R and P-A-I-R. So that’s pair and pear. She ate a pair of pear. Yes, I know it’s crazy. Our instructor also told us that the word C-O-M-P-I-L-A-T-I-O-N is supposed to be pronounced as compilation and not compilation, again, that’s compilation. Uh, the word T-U-I-T-I-O-N on the other hand, is supposed to be pronounced as tuition.

And now, let’s talk about the Harry Potter fever. On July the 11th, that’s a Wednesday, yes, a Wednesday, the fifth Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be released in the country. I don’t know if I would be able to watch the movie on the 11th because I’m supposed to be in school until 5pm on that day and my class on the following day will start at 7am. So, there’s only a little possibility that I’ll be able to watch it on that day. Nevertheless, I’m planning to watch it two times on the big screen. Uh, the first time I’ll watch it, I suppose, I’ll be alone, yes, alone because I don’t want to be interrupted with tremendous amount of questions while watching it. And on the last time, I’ll be watching it with my friends or with my family. And on the 21st, the last Harry Potter book entitled harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released. I can’t wait to have it on my hands. I’m getting excited! The problem is that I still haven’t reserved a copy and the book costs around PHP 1500. I guess, I’ll pay for it in cash on the release date. Well, seriously, I don’t have any theory on who will die and who will survive, but I hope Harry would still be alive at the end of the book. This is going to be good July to remember!

Well, I suppose, that’s all for the first episode of Podcasteeg. See you next time if there is a next time. Again, this is Christian Evangelista and don’t forget to leave your comments.

“Welcome Back to Hell,” Said Satan

I’m officially back to grogginess mode.

As I have expected, I don’t have enough time to post here or even just visit your blogs and leave a comment. I’ve got 200 plus of unread blog entries in Google Reader.

So how’s my school life? Ah, very tiring. Out of the eight subjects that I’m taking up this semester, only one is my favorite. And that’s English. I’m enjoying it because we’re tackling about oral communication. So, after the term, if I would be able to be good in nasality (I want a British accent, haha) and improve my voice, I might release the first episode of Podcasteeg. More over, we also have a laboratory period for our English subject. The laboratory is so cool. It’s called Digital Language Laboratory. We look like call center agents when we are there.

PE is tiring. Who would not get tired, especially in our case that we have swimming and bowling for this semester? I don’t like the swimming part but I hope that I would like the latter.

I don’t like CF (Theology), not because I hate the subject itself but my instructor. The instructor that I had last semester is also the same professor who is handling us. Kapag sinuswerte ka nga naman.

PolSci does not look interesting, but according to my classmates, our professor is good. She said during our first meeting that she don’t give a failing mark to those students who has a perfect attendance. I got to like this one! Haha.

As for my remaining subjects, nine word: they are the ingredients to make me feel haggard.

Hmm… my new classmates? They’re not that bad but how I wish we were not reshuffled.

[EDIT] I want to share to you this conversation I had with a friend last week:

Christian: School is very bad to our health.
Michael: True.
Christian: It should be banned.
Michael: Better if annihilated.
Christian: Yeah, that would be better.

[/EDIT]

Bye for now, I got to review. See you next time if there is a next time!

Oh No! It’s June Already!

Now that only eleven days are left before school begins, I still haven’t prepared anything. I still don’t have the school supplies that I would need like notebooks (Corona and binders), ballpen (0.5 or thinner than that), paper (yellow pad and Corona bond paper), and other things that are essential for students. Well, I’m not really inclined to get back to school because school is hell, moreover, college is fatal. Lol.

I’ve got three reasons why I don’t want to go to school, on the top of the list is that I don’t want my course. Two, I would have a new set of classmates, I still don’t get it why they had to reshuffle us. And the last one is that I hate my schedule.

Here is a preview of my schedule: M 9:00am to 3:00pm, TTH 7:00am to 5:00pm, WF 9:00am to 5:00pm. That means, I would be spending more time in school now, and by logic, you’ll also get that I would be spending less time in surfing the internet.

It’s time again to share to you some delicious links that I’ve dugg from digg.com and del.icio.us.

  • There’s a new feature in Google Maps called street view, we can now tour the streets of San Francisco, Las Vegas, Colorado, New York and Miami without leaving the comforts of Google. Sure, there are other sites that offers this same feature, but I think this is better because you can have a full 360° view of a particular place. You may also want to read this funny article about the top 15 Google street view sightings. There was this one who was caught trying to break into a house, and this one shows two girls sunbathing. Lol!
  • Before my vacation would end. I want to do this. I can’t still believe that you can calculate the value of pi by just throwing frozen hot dogs! It sounds crazy but it looks like it’s true.
  • Did you know that CBS bought Last.fm?
  • Another must-do for those people who are still stuck with dial-up (and even those people with a broadband connection but want their browsing experience a bit faster), hack FireFox.
  • This is so amazing: Microsoft Surface. I want one! Lol.
  • It’s official, Google has acquired FeedBurner.
  • This one is not yet on digg.com and del.icio.us, but you should know this, especially if you know Neil of es2pido.com. He won a notebook computer, a digicam, and a whooping PHP 100000.00 from Eat Bulaga’s On the Spot. After reading and knowing some facts about his life, I can say that he really deserves it! Oi! Neil, balato naman jan! I can give you my bank account. Haha. Lol. Joke.

Lol. No, I don’t have any plans on starting my own podcast, you would not want to hear my voice. I’m just doing some wordplay. But then, it would be great if I can have my own podcast.

[EDIT] Finally, my new layout is up. I’ve lost count of how many themes that I’ve already used, so I don’t know what the version number of this theme is. My codes are valid (except for CSS) but I still think there are few bugs out there. So if you found one lurking, please report it to me.

This theme is a bit, shall I say, thinner? It’s a big mistake. I should have made it a little more thicker. The photos that I posted here won’t fit on the content part. And now, I can’t do the necessary tweaks because I don’t have a decent graphics editor installed on Snidget. And the computer where Adobe Photoshop CS2 is installed is on haywire-mode. (I have other options that’ll solve this problem, though I prefer doing the option that I presented here, I don’t have any choice but to look for an alternative solution.)

It is 800×600 pixels (and up) friendly. I tried it with both IE7 and Mozilla Firefox but it looks better with the latter. [/EDIT]
