Birthday Bash

chocolate-coffee cupcake with mocha ganache and mascarpone cream Okay, my birthday is more than seven months away and I haven’t attended a birthday party recently but this post is about a party… a party that I want to have. This may sound really absurd to anyone who reads it: I want to have a children’s birthday party! Yeah, lol. I know, it’s weird. As a matter of fact, thinking of it makes me laugh like a person who lost his sanity (or have I lost my sanity already?). But I’m dead serious about this one.

I want to celebrate one of my birthdays in a local branch of McDonald’s or Jollibee where I and my friends can fill our hungry tummies with delicious cheeseburgers, spaghetti, fatty French fries, deep-fried chickens, and sundaes. Of course, there will be party hats in assorted colors, a banner that says “Happy Birthday, Christian!” with Ronald McDonald or Jollibee and their respective friends as its background.

There will also be an emcee who will host parlor games but the games will be uh, adult-ish. Lol. We’ll play an edited version of Trip to Jerusalem. The guys will hold bananas just in front of their pants and these bananas will serve as the “chairs.” The contestants will be either females or gays (to make the game more exciting and funnier). The contestants will circle around the guys sporting bananas in front of their jeans while dancing like a GRO in a far-flung cabaret in the tune of a novelty song composed by Lito Camo (God, how gross is that?). Once the music stops, the contestants will try to grab one of the bananas. The one who will not be able to get a banana is out of the game. The process will go on until a winner will be declared. Okay, I’m exaggerating. Loot bags will be given to the participants. These loot bags will contain but not limited to chocolates and candies.

Of course, there will be a special appearance of a mascot (I really feel sorry to those people wearing those stupid costumes) who will give entertainment to everyone who is in the party. Either Jollibee or Ronald will dance like there’s no tomorrow. And we’ll see if we can make Jollibee dance a folk dance (preferably Pandanggo sa Ilaw) or make Ronald sing.

I’m sure everyone will enjoy the party even though every bit of it is very childish! Haha.

So… will you join my party? Haha. Magpapa-cheeseburger ako!

Yeah. I have a new layout! Woot! It’s been a while since I last used a dark theme. I really like this one. I love its simplicity and the semi-transparent columns. But I’m not sure if this will work with older versions of the effing and the most ridiculous browser to me: IE. Expect to see some minor changes to this new layout in the coming days. A credit is due to this simple CSS trick to make semi-transparents columns and to imjustincognito’s amazing photo that I used as my header.

So Sofitel

Last December 29, a day after my 18th birthday, we were invited to go to the party of one of my father’s relatives. But there was a conflict with my schedule. I was supposed to meet some random people and I had to create an alibi just so I won’t attend the effing meeting. I didn’t want to see these people and I didn’t like to spoil the fun of my holiday vacation which has officially ended with going back to school today so I didn’t meet them. And hey, I cannot afford to miss the opportunity to go and eat in a very extravagant and luxurious hotel: Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.

Even though I hate socializing, and I’m not even close to the person who celebrated her birthday1 All I know is that I’m blood-related to the person who turned 72 last year. Yes, she’s 54 years older than I2. And that she’s my father’s first cousin. Oh boy, I wasn’t disappointed with going with my family to Manila, moreover, I felt delighted because I wasn’t able to see those freaking people I was supposed to meet. No regrets at all.

When we got there, we were told that we can get whatever we want from the buffet tables which when placed parallel on their ends, they would make a very long buffet table with so many choices to choose from and we can go back to the buffet tables and get sumptuous foods as many times as we want. There were Ebi Tempuras which is my favorite (but the sauce didn’t taste good. Tokyo Tokyo’s sauce is better), different kinds of sushis, pizzas, heaps of rice, cheese that tastes weird, Chinese noodles, crabs and other seafoods that I don’t know if they’re cooked and were displayed with so many ice around them, steaks that were freshly grilled, salads, breads that looked as hard as stone, and other foods that I can’t remember anymore. Oh, of course, there were desserts. There were chocolate fountains, fruits, cakes, ice creams (there was a Pistachio flavored ice cream but what I wanted was a Jasmine flavored ice cream which they didn’t have), crepes, gummy bears, and other mouthwatering and appetizing deserts that would make you diabetic if you would taste every single dessert that they have. I may not sound convincing that most of the foods were delicious, I even made negative comments, but then, it maybe just me, I’m not a food critique at all.

Here are some photos that I and my sister took on that day:

SofitelIce CreamSpiralMake me Some Ice, Baby!

We were not able to take as many photos of the buffet tables as we wanted because it was not comfortable taking photos while there were so many people getting their food from them.

And after we had our very delicious lunch, we went outside to the pool section of the hotel. No, we didn’t swim, it was just that the scenery was beautiful. Manila Bay was at sight but there were trash floating on the ocean. We were also able to see Mall of Asia, the biggest mall in the country, from far away. I thought we were going there, but I was wrong. On the other hand, we went to TriNoma and SM North Edsa after the party. I’ll talk more about our trips to these two malls on my next update, but for now, I leave you with my two photos.

I can’t believe this! I’m posting my photos here. Haha.

Crumpled MTV Star
MTV’s Next Star. I edited this in Adobe Photoshop CS2 to create that crumpled look. This also serves as my current wallpaper. But of course, I’m not MTV’s next star. Haha.

Over There!
Look, Point and Shoot! We had to shoot as many as 10 photos while I was on this pose to get the perfect shot. In the end, I chose the first photo my sister took. Now, I need to update my avatars.

Lol. Of course, it doesn’t mean that I said that I posted my photos, I would be publishing photos with my beaming smile. Well, my back would suffice for now. I have the right to protect my true identity. :) ‘Till next time guys!

One Time, Big Time

Seriously, I didn’t plan anything for my 18th birthday today. I just let the day unfold in front of my eyes, and yes, I enjoyed my birthday.

Earlier this day, I went to hear mass. The priest’s homily was about protecting the sanctity of life. He talked about how euthanasia and abortion removes the dignity of a person. You see, today is the Feast of the Holy Inocents. Upon hearing the news that Jesus was born, King Herod gave orders to kill all males aged two years and below. So you see the conection of the gospel and the homily, eh? Hmm… this is where Niño (popularly known as Talamasca) got his name who also celebrates his birthday today!

As my high school friends lurves anything that is “on the spot,” I only invited them this morning. Lol. Luckily, five of them turned up. Some of them were shocked because they know that I’m kuripot1. Lol. Well, maybe I’ll talk about that in another entry. We met at SM City Pampanga at around noon, but two of my friends can’t get as soon as possible there and my friends that were already with me were already hungry so we decided to eat. I treated them in Chef d’ Angelo. I love their jumbo-sized chickens and pizzas. Delicious! Haha.

We had a good time talking about our high school memories like Intramural,
a particular speech choir presentation2, how we hated our valedictorian (I won’t comment about this… haha), press-cons, and our school’s success in the recently concluded Sinukwan Festival.

By the time that we were done with our lunch, our other friends were not yet there so we decided to roam around the mall. And oh, according to a billboard seen here in Pampanga, it’s the longest mall in the country. Hmm… so it’s longer than Mall of Asia? Interesting. After a few minutes, the people that we were waiting for turned up at last.

We then went to Robinson Starmills to watch a flick. As it’s still the Metro Manila Film Festival today, there were no films from other countries. We decided to watch Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo of Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo. Compared to other Filipino movies, this movie is really good. Yes, I have written in one of my entries that most Filipino movies are corny, but this one is an exemption. This one is unique and it has its originality. Well, I won’t talk more about it because I don’t want to spoil it for you!

There are other things that I want to write here, but I think this is enough for now. To everyone who greeted me a Happy Birthday, thank you very much!

PS: I’ll be in Manila tomorrow and hopefully, Mall of Asia. But I need to get back here in Pampanga by 6PM because I want to attend one of my high school friend’s party. It’ll be an overnight party and they even own a resort… this is exciting!

Hello World II

So I welcome you all to my brand new site. Everything is the same with Asteeg.Net. All the posts that I made there and all the comments that you posted are here. And as I just officially opened this site to the public, I am sure there are some errors that will occur every now and again. An example are the contact forms, they are dead at the moment. If you encountered some problems, you can reach me by commenting at my guest book at the moment.

I want to dedicate this site to my late grandfather who should be celebrating his birthday today if he was still alive. There is a little party for him later in honor of him.

I will update my pages anytime soon.

Is there somebody out there who wants to be hosted here? I am looking for hostees, a couple or three to be exactly. Just be sure to read this.

Got to go, sorry, I’ll update this later. It looks like there is nothing to blog about.

Again, welcome to my new site!

Boo!

First of all, I want to greet everyone a Happy Creepy Hallowe’en!

Let’s talk something scary or shall I say anything that is supposed to be spooky?

First on the list is a costume party. I want to go back to my childhood years and throw a hallowe’en party! No, not the typical of party where boys have to go on a Dracula costume with red lipstick on the sides of their mouth and girls have to go on a Cinderella (make sure you’re only wearing a shoe or Snow White (with matching twelve dwarfs) costume. You see, I was able to read an article in the 2BU section of the Philippine Daily Inquirer last week that suggested some ideas for a hallowe’en party. The one that I liked most was the vegetable-themed party! Lol. I would be in a pumpkin costume! Just don’t go in a carrot costume, I’m afraid Bug’s Bunny would also attend the party! Lol!

I can still remember those old days where we had hallowe’en party in school. A hallowe’en party won’t be complete if there was no Mummy Relay, it’s a game where a person covers another person with tissue. This one is best played on one-ply tissue paper! There were even non-hallowe’en related games like the kissing card game (suck and blow game) which I really hate! There’s a tendency that you could kiss straight to the lips the previous and/or next person to you! (What if the previous and/or next person to you comes from the same gender as you?). And there was this one hallowe’en party that I and some of my classmates did not attend! Where were we at that time? We were in the computer room of our school, doing our school publication and playing some computer games! Call us KJ if you want. We don’t like to mingle with some of the students in our school!

Second, I don’t really like watching horror movies! They make my blood vessels numb! The last one which I was able to see was “Mortuary”, good thing it was not that scary. Actually, there was this one point in the movie where I and my friends laughed. Isn’t it weird that the zombies in the movie are afraid of NaCl

Third on my list is the Horror Train, were you able to ride one? Well, I was able to ride one on my junior year. It was really hilarious and ridiculous! I was really laughing hard during the ride. It did not even send the creeps out of me! How will I get scared? The sun was up (I think that was in the afternoon) when I had my first try on it. And there was also somebody throwing talcum powder to the person who was supposed to be scaring us to death!

The last one is about a Horror House. During my grade school days, there was one in school. It was not scary at all, it was only dark. And I was able to get a bump on my head because there were chairs scattered around the room.

Oh, I just had lungs for lunch! Yummy!
