Fast Food Fanatic… Plus On Getting Stranded

Fast Food Fanatic

In the Million Insect Storm, the Constellations Form Since the fourteenth of last month, I’ve already eaten once in Tokyo Tokyo (I love their Ebi Tempura), three times in McDonald’s (I’m a cheeseburger fan), and four times in Jollibee. Maybe, there is something that they add in their meals they prepare which makes me and their other patrons come back for more, be it their specialties and even their desserts. I guess it’s Monosodium Glutamate (or betsin in the vernacular)… But MSG in desserts? That’s weird.

This all began back in the start of the second term when I met my friends who just can’t get enough of Jollibee and McDo (and when we get extremely long breaks, we even go to the mall to try other fast food chains). Prior to that, the only place where I frequently ate my lunch was in the school’s cafeteria. I’ve grown I’mune to the food they serve. Every vials that they prepare seemed to taste like with what I call generic foods (fried chicken, pork chop, etc.). But since those people I was with were fast food fanatics. I was forced to eat either in Jollibee or McDonald’s almost everyday.

I know, it’s not healthy, we can’t be exactly sure what are the ingredients of the foods that they prepare. Besides, we know for a fact that foods that were deep fried (like fried chicken and French fries) are rich in saturated fats. Seriously, I need to stop and control from eating such food1.

The only benefit you get is that there is only a small possibility that you’ll get contract diseases due to spoiled food. And in the event that you get such, you can sue someone and get compensation.

On Getting Stranded

Because of my high school friends’ persuasions, I decided to turn up to the meeting they’ve set a few days ago. I was hesitant at first because the previous week was another he’ll week. But yeah, in the end I met my HS friends. And we decided to watch a movie… guess what we watched? Due to unfortunate circumstances we watched Iron Man. I’ve already watched it last Tuesday and I didn’t imagine that I would watch it again. I had fun though. The last flick I watched twice in the big screen was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

After the credits were rolled (where we saw weird credits, there was a chef and even caterer, drivers) and the bonus snippet, it was time for me to go. This time, I had to transfer to another jeep to get home from SM Pampanga. It was drizzling when we left the mall. But when I got off the first jeep, the drizzle turned into a massive pouring of rain. I was stranded. Everyone in the street looked for a shed where they could stay for a few minutes, and that included me. With this, I’m grateful to the Burger Machine stall where I stayed for a few minutes to wait for a jeep. I was only stranded for ten minutes or less. I even posted a tweet while I was waiting. I was like calling every single saint known to man for the rain to stop, but it didn’t.

By the time I got home. I was totally wet. My pants especially the bottom part was wet. The back of my shirt was wet. My handkerchief was wet. My hair was wet. My Chucks were wet (my socks were spared though). It was as if I had a bath on the road! I’m fine now. I got home safe and sound, and as what I’ve posted in Twitter, I’m dry now.

After other people blaming so many bloggers, this time, it’s my turn to blame Jmar.

Messing With my Schedule

I hate make-up classes, especially if they’re announced only a day before (worse, on the same day). I don’t like to compensate for such thing especially if I’ve already scheduled something for that time and day like making a draft or returning comments. I believe that time is gold so I’m really strict with my schedule (of course, except for school related things). I hate wasting time, that’s not in my vocabulary. As a matter of fact, I say “You’re wasting my time!” to my friends whenever they’re delaying something or whenever they keeping me from going for something that is useless.

Yesterday, I should have only taken my midterm examination in one of my major subjects and I was free to go home. It took me about an hour and a half to finish answering 100 brain damaging questions. But because my instructor had set for a make-up class which was originally from 1-3PM but was later moved to 3-5PM, I was forced not to go home. Sorry, I’m not that type of student who skives classes. It was really annoying. Good thing, I didn’t planned to go out with my high school friends on that day, or else, they would have killed me by now.

I finished answering my examination by 11:00. All-in-all, I had four hours to kill. Going back home and return to school three hours later was never an option to me on how I wanted to kill my four-hour break because it’s uneconomical and I didn’t want to spend an additional of at least 1.5 hours in a jeep. That left me with two choices: either go to the library to continue reading Life of Pi by Yann Martel and abuse the Internet service or go to the mall and watch a flick. I chose the latter and I was able to tag two friends to go with me.

Because it was unplanned (yet another on the spot decision), I didn’t bring any street clothes. You see, we’re not allowed to go to the malls — worse, to the movie house — wearing our uniform. But I had no options left. Besides, my two friends told me that they’re doing that (going to the cinemas while wearing their uniform) always and were never caught.

We bought deluxe tickets for Iron Man but instead of heading to the deluxe seats we went to the premier seats. Lol. Bad. Bad. Bad. There was no one who was guarding the entrance to the premier seats so we climbed the stairs and we had an instant savings of Php 20.00! Lol.

Well, Iron Man is a good movie, it’s based on the Marvel Comics of the same title. The acting skills of the cast was superb. And of course, the special effects was really good. The only downside was that I was able to predict correctly a few things.

After watching Iron Man, we rushed back to school for our make-up class. Nevertheless, I had fun. XD

Biggest Bother: Brother

There are so many things that I want to tell you about our movie. But then, I don’t want to bore you reading a very long entry. You see, there are so many problems that arose in our group especially during the production part. As a matter of fact, our leader-slash-director is the biggest problem that we ever encountered.

All of us hate her so much! She even wants to be the script writer and one of the characters in the story. During the day when we decided to choose a plot, it was one of her plots that won in the voting. I don’t know what happened but until now, I still can’t get it why her out of this world plot was chosen.

It goes like this…

A group of friends have this certain project so they went to the house of their leader. But what they didn’t know is that place used to be a tribal burial place, and on that day, that group of friends were locked inside… and one by one they started to disappear. But in the end, it turns out that it was one of the members of the group who killed the others and she did that because her group mates were teasing her.

The story was so shallow. There were hardly any underlying reasons why the killer decided to murder her group mates. And there were so many plot holes in the story that she created. There was even this big hole that only she didn’t notice. Everybody who read her draft were in the verge of laughing so hard just because of that big plot hole that she didn’t notice.

And from then on, a new group arise from our group… a group within a group. I’m proud (lol) to say that I was one of the three members of this group and we called ourselves as the “Conspiracy Group.” As much as possible, we didn’t want to bypass our director, but then, we had to. Because if not, her outrageous ideas and suggestions would reign! Who would want to film a gas tank exploding (this was in the plot that she made)? Duh, we’re not in Hollywood!

We (the CG) decided to do major revision in our plot. In the end, what only remained in the revised story was that there was a group of friends who got killed one by one. I liked it so much and the plot was really interesting. The second version was really good. The whole group decided that our movie’s title should be “Brother” and yes, it really fits our movie. But I think our leader didn’t like that. She has her own weird ideas. Actually, she suggested “Big Bother” to be our movie’s title. But you see, “Brother” really fits our movie, and besides, majority of us wanted it as our flick’s title.

During the production part, our director did only little in our movie. Actually, it was us, the CG who made almost everything possible. It was always us who were on the camera, filming this and that, directing our group mates on what to do, checking the props that we’ll use, and many more. By the end we were over filming all of the scenes, everyone was really mad at our so-called director. Someone even told the actress who starred as the killer to kill our director. Haha. But the catch was that it looked like our leader didn’t like with what we did. We didn’t had any choice at all but to put all of those things on our hands and be the ones who’d settle what we had to.

We didn’t include our leader in the post-production part. Basically, it was only the three of us (CG) who worked during this part. As a matter of fact, what she knows was that we didn’t meet at all. All she knows was that the editor was the only one who edited everything that needed editing and it was me who did the poster and the DVD cover. Well, she has her own ideas on what should appear on our poster. She wanted it to be something like serious…. something like the posters for “Maging Sino Ka Man.” Yuck! It doesn’t really fit for our movie! Good thing they didn’t have time to have a pictorial session. What I did was to search for pictures (of course, that have something to do with our movie) in Flickr that are free to use.

Note: The names I used in the poster are not real.

Last Saturday, the three of us met and finalized everything we had to finalize. I enjoyed doing our poster, all I need was their approval. And hey, they really liked it. So when we got everything about the poster settled, we had it printed.1 I really liked our poster, as a matter of fact, I have my own personal copy of it!

During the afternoon, we were editing our movie. And because I was also the one who was assigned as the musical director, I used indie music in our movie! Yay! That afternoon, I also made our DVD cover which took hours of my time. It was only around 10 in the evening when I was able to finish doing it.

Over all, I really had fun doing this tedious and tiring task, especially during the post-production part. Even the other two members of the CG said that they had fun. Just seeing our poster printed was such big joy on my part. It was just our leader wasn’t cooperating and she’s really a big problem in our group. And even though there are still some flaws in our movie I can say that we really did great, after all, we’re not even BA students.

  1. Just a side-note, that was the day I knew that somebody can be allergic to tarpaulin. Lol. My friend is! Haha. She was itching after she touched our newly printed poster. []

Christmas Rush

I’ve already sent my Christmas gifts to my good friends and visitors online. Check my second Flickr account to know if you’re one of those lucky bloggers who’ve got a gift from me. Can’t find your name there? Well, you may grab either this…

Gloria

…or this…

Snowman

But you can grab both if you really like them. Lol.

Actually, I only made those this morning. Lol. I had to rush them that’s why I wasn’t able to put any personal dedication.

To everyone who gave me gifts, thank you very much. Here is a list of those who gave me presents (this part will be updated if necessary): Tammy, Scart, Sherica, Erised, Nelson, Kaila, Isley, Sandra, Mitch, and Euri. You can view their presents to me in my del.icio.us account. Of course, to everyone who greeted me, thank you!

Outside the blogosphere, I was able to deceive (lol) my little brother to get me an original DVD copy of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoneix. Actually, he paid half the price of it. It’s his Christmas gift to me. I’ve already watched it yesterday and I still think it’s the worst Harry Potter movie. The additional scenes were not interesting. Nevertheless, the other features were good.

I’ll spend Christmas Eve with my family later. Our other relatives will come to our house tonight and my uncle from Texas would call us via Yahoo Messenger. I can’t wait for midnight! I hope my siblings, Lola and parents would like the presents I’ve got for them. But of course, what’s important is that we are complete this Christmas. XD

Happy Christmas!

HP5 the Movie: Disappointing

Before anything else, please add my Twitter account.

Spoilers Warning

If you still haven’t seen the movie yet and you are planning to watch it, please skip this for now. There are spoilers in this post that might ruin the already ruined movie even more. Thank you.

I’m disappointed.

As usual, there are lots of scenes in the book that were not included in the movie version, but of course, the movie makers have to compress the 800 plus pages book into an approximately two hours. Moreover, the transition of the scenes were too fast. I suppose, Steve Kloves is better than Michael Goldenberg, the writer of the script in this movie. Steve Kloves had to work with another movie, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, which is another adaptation originally written by Mark Haddon. Good thing, Steve Kloves will write the sixth’s script.

What else do I hate? Oh, those newspaper clippings, I hate those, they really made the phasing fast. And the one that I really hate was the changes they did with Cho Chang’s role. She was not the one who is supposed to tell Umbridge about the Dumbledore’s Army. It was her friend, Marieta, who unfortunately was included in the movie. And this is not the reason why they Cho and Harry ended their relationship. But most of all, the prophecy was not fully heard nor explained.

Now, here’s a list of things, places and people that I wanted to see in the movie but were not spared from getting into the movie:

  • Bode, an unspeakable who works in the Department of Mysteries
  • Gilderoy Lockhart, Harry’s ex-professor
  • St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries
  • The screaming portrait of Sirius’s mother (ah, how I wish I’ve heard her screaming), she was heard speaking, but not seen.
  • The fountain in the Ministry of Magic was there, but they should have sticked with what happened in the book. In the book, those statues should have sprang into life during the battle of Dumbledore and Voldemort.
  • Quidditch was obviously not included even Luna’s strange hats plus “Weasley is Our King”
  • Rita Skeeters! I hate the movie makers for removing Rita!

As for the good parts, well, the cast was good, their acting was superb. The most notable members of the cast were Imelda Staunton who played Professor Umbridge (she was really irritating), Helena Bonham Carter who portrayed Bellatrix Lestrange, and Evana Lych as Luna Lovegood. The sets were nice, especially the Ministry of Magic but that was not how I perceived the Ministry. Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place was great, and Umbridge’s office was really decorated with the color pink. I also like the changes they did with the Educational Decrees. In the book, there are only a handful, but in the movie, there are almost a hundred of them.

Well, I suppose that’s all. If there are some errors, please notify me. You might as well want to read Differences between book and film versions of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, an article from Wikipedia.

PS: I decided not to watch it for the second time because it’s not that good and it does not worth my moolah. I should be saving my money for the last book which will be released on the 21st.
