Facts ‘Bout Me

I decided to rewrite my “About Me” page. I started from scratch again and I come up with an seven-paragraph introduction to myself. I decided to post it here so that it’ll get the attention that it will need. The front page is always the best part where you can put stories that you want your audience to notice.

During the year I started blogging, my answer to the question “What’s your ASL?” was 14/M/Pampanga. Now that almost four years have passed since I first encountered that question, my answer is still the same, except for the age part which you have to add to four (that’s equal to 18). But of course, giving you a two-digit number, a letter that stands for “male”, and the name of a province here in the Philippines is not enough for you to know me. So the purpose of rewriting my short description of myself is for you to visualize me better on your head. Feel free to make your own image of myself. I’ve also provided links to my previous posts, that you can freely read (minus those password protected entries) which can help you know more about myself.

I was born three days after Christmas in the year of 1989. December 28, 1989 was the start of my journey here on earth. Eighteen years later, I’m already 18 years old, obviously. Kidding aside, I think, I’ve achieved a lot of things but there are still many things to conquer. Currently, I’m a college student but I still have to learn how to love my course and I still think that college is synonymous to hell.

Reading books has been my main source of entertainment since sixth grade when I first read JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Since then, I have read more than 50 books which include the whole Harry Potter series, two of Dan Brown’s controversial books, reads by Mitch Albom which are all talking about death, and even books that are more disturbing like Ian McEwan’s Atonement and Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner which is my most favorite book, by the way.

Other forms of entertainment that I enjoy include watching American TV shows especially Grey’s Anatomy, Heroes and The Amazing Race, ridiculing incompetent teachers, sleeping, surfing the Internet, and most recently, listening to indie music by Feist, Death Cab for Cutie, Snow Patrol, The Postal Service, Hellogoodbye, Jack Johnson, and many more. As a matter of fact, because of my obsession to indie music, I named my iPod touch as Gibbard, in honor of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service’s singer: Ben Gibbard. Just visit my Last.fm account to know my listening patterns.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I also love writing. I was actually the news editor of our official student publication for two consecutive years back in high school. But until now, I still don’t know how I was able to get that position because of my faulty grammar. I know, my grammar sucks. And if it were not because of Firefox’s spell checker feature, I would have committed lots of misspelled words. I need an editor, really. Haha. But despite all of those reasons I’ve mentioned, I’m really thankful for my adviser who trusted me. Writing news never gave me pleasure. You have to be specific with the facts and you can’t give your own points and using adjectives is a big no-no.

Now, I want to tell you what I’m not: I’m neither a singer nor a dancer (I suck at both). I’m not also a cellphone and SMS addict, I can leave even without a phone. I hate PE classes (I’m just glad that I will not wear my PE uniform ever). And oh as some of you might already know, I don’t have the ideal body weight (take a guess if I’m overweight or underweight) and I don’t look like an 18 year old student (I look younger… lol).

I’ve got more things to tell you but I guess, I’m already boring you. Just watch out for the next version of this introduction to myself to know more about me. But if you need something or you just want to leave your two cents, feel free to contact me.

DanHellbound and Dre tagged me to post facts about myself. BTW, Mr. DanHellbound tagged me way back in December of last year. Dan says I should post seven facts, and Dre says that I should post eight. But obviously, I broke the rules. Lol. And oh, I didn’t make this post because of these memes. It’s just coincidental. Of course, everyone is invited to post random facts. Yeah, I’m tagging you everyone!

Yaya, Please Come Back

Effective on Saturday, we will me maid-less once again. No one would be left here in our house during the weekdays. It’s a bit scary because there were reported cases about criminals who go inside the houses and rummages the whole house for precious items like jewelries, notebooks, televisions, cellphones, refrigerators and washing machines and take them away. Okay, that was a bit exaggerated but you get the point. Now, those people with bad intentions know that our place is not guarded every Monday to Friday. Lol.

By the end of this week, the tasks that I don’t usually do would be passed to me like a prestigious title in a pageant. Urgh. I hate that. I’m pretty sure that the title of “King of Dishes” would be passed to me. I would be washing the dishes every now and then which I really hate because it’s very time-consuming and the task is a little messy and my hands get irritated with the dish washing soap. Joy doesn’t work for me. Axion, makes my hands itch even more. And I hate the smell of a bareta1. I’ve suggested to my parents that we should just use paper plates because no one wants to wash the plates and the other wares that we use. But it looks like they don’t want to eat on a paper plate. They find it cheap and inelegant. More than that, I would have other responsibilities that I have to meet which I don’t want to think as of now. Just the fact that I would be washing the dishes once again makes my blood pressure rise.

But maybe, with our impending maid-less days, I would be able to learn various domestic activities. Would you believe me that I don’t know how to polish my shoes? What about if I would tell you that I don’t know how to iron and wash my clothes? Would you believe me? At this point, I would like to tell emphasize that I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. It’s just that these things that I should know by now where not introduced to me. The catch is that I have other things to worry about like cleaning our comfort rooms. Yeah, I know it’s gross, but I do clean them. But as what I have said, maybe, this time, I would learn how to do these tiring activities. Besides, next school year, I would move to an apartment near my school. That’s why I really need to learn these things. The sad thing is that I don’t know where I can get Internet connection once I’m living in an apartment. Should I get a phone line named to myself?

I’m sure that we would miss our maid. She was the greatest maid that we employed. She’s really doing her best and you can see in her face that even though her task is difficult, she strives hard to do what she ought to do correctly. A few things that I would miss about our maid is that every night, while I am busy surfing the Internet she would shout “Christian, ilaw!”, asking me to turn on the light on our backyard. I would also miss calling her name and sounding the door bell numerous times every time that I would arrive. I would also miss her nauseous moments every time that she brushes her teeth. And of course, I will never ever forget that she, just like me and my younger sister got addicted with Grey’s Anatomy. Sosyal ang katulong namin!

On the other hand, even though she’s now leaving to expand her horizon, to explore the world and have the chance to get another job aside from being a maid, the gates of our house is always open for her. We would be glad to have her as a guest that we would serve with sumptuous food and entertain.

PS: I just want to tell everybody that Isley has already opened her blog. Please visit her site! Thanks!

[EDIT] For now, there would be no maid-less days for us because my parents have found a replacement for our old helper who is going to leave our home later this evening. And that means I will not be the king of dishes! Haha. I just hope that our new maid would turn out to be as good as our old one or even better. But this means that I would not be able to learn those simple things that I have to learn… and I would not be able to know how to operate our washing machine yet. Haha. Whatever. [/EDIT]

Excessive Marathons

Look! An update, but this does not mean that I’m not in hiatus mode anymore, unless I’ll have other things to say in the coming days.

Two days ago, I and some friends (from high school and grade school) played badminton at a local court. As usual, I’m the one who waited for the others to arrive. No matter how I procrastinate, I still end up waiting. And that’s frustrating me!

By noon, we were all at a local branch of McDonald’s and as most of us haven’t ate lunch, we decided to eat first. After an hour, we we’re already playing. The entrance fee was cheap: PHP 50.00, until you drop. The thing is, I’m neither a badminton enthusiast nor a sports aficionado. I’m no good at any sports. It’s just so ironic to me that I was there. Still, I played: I won in some games, I lost in most games. Lol! Nevertheless, I had a great time.

While catching our breath, we ridiculed our teachers back in high school, here are a few examples that made us laugh once again.

  • Pagtrabayuhin
  • Kumbintu
  • “Is zero an odd number?”
  • *Teacher tries to spell the word ‘ghost’* G-O-S-T “Kulang po ng ‘H’.” G-O-S-H. Gosh! Wooohoo!
  • “Okay, I’ll call you in random.” (I thought to myself: “Cool! He knows the word ‘random’!”) Well, our teacher called us alphabetically. Do you call that random?
  • One of our teachers mispronounced “gauge” as “goose.” He gave us a weak alibi: “Sorry, malabo yung photocopy ko.” All of our copies were clear!

Two days after our badminton session, my body still aches. I’m having a hard time moving. But I’m still looking forward to our next badminton session next week.

*****

I’m also having Heroes and Grey’s Anatomy marathons. These two programs are great. Way to go, Tim Kring and Shonda Rhimes!

As for Amazing Race, I didn’t expect that Eric and Danielle will win. As usual, the last roadblock was hard. Nevertheless, congratulations to them!

Sorry for this lame entry.

Enchanted Excursion

Sorry for the lack of updates and I’m sorry that this one is pretty short.

Recently, I got addicted to Grey’s Anatomy. I’ve been downloading every single episode of the third season. And I really enjoy it. Currently, I’ve already finished the first 13 episodes, so please, no spoilers, eh? But there’s one thing I hate with it, the surgery scenes. I don’t like watching those scenes. Gross.

More recently to that, we had an unplanned trip down south. We went to Tagaytay City and went to EK. I’m glad that we went to Tagaytay, memories from my day trip with my classmates back in high school flooded my mind. It was my first time to go to EK, I thought that the place was good, but I was wrong. I find the park boring and small.

Well, I suppose, there will be less updates in this site for the next few weeks. There’s just nothing to write about and I’m missing so much things. I need to recollect myself.

Uh, yeah, I reckon, I need to use the “H” word… hiatus.
