Summer Classes

So yeah, my visitors are starting to deplete. And I will not wonder anymore if in the coming weeks, Google Analytics would report to me that the number of my visitors will plunge to two-year low. And that’s because of the shortage of new blog entries here and I haven’t returned comments lately. Yeah, I know, it’s my fault. But then, I was too busy. Busy with school work (refer to the post below), reading books, relaxing, and most of all… preparing for my summer classes.

Yeah, you read that right, I have summer classes. So I can’t say that I’m an incoming junior… just yet. Actually, I was in school yesterday to enroll myself for the summer classes. Good thing, I didn’t have to spend the whole day there (the last time I enrolled, I spent the whole day in school, it was totally a waste of time). I got there very early and I finished everything I had to do in just a couple of hours or even less. I was the ninth student to finish the enrollment process. Yeah, the early bird catches the early worm!

So now, this summer, instead of going to beaches, have an adventure somewhere in the country, or just be a bum here in my scorching room surfing the Internet, reading a nice read and follow the latest development on the rice shortage in the country, I will be in school, stressing my self. Also, this could also mean that I’ll not be able to go to iBlog4. I cannot really believe this. I’m already tired of thinking about school work. I still haven’t had a decent rest. And in just a few days, hell will dominate my world again. The worst thing is that I’ll be in school five times a week, from morning to afternoon. My schedule really sucks. Come on, Satan, please, spare me! I just hope that I will survive the summer heat.

There are so many things that I want to do but my two-week vacation is almost over. I guess, I have to postpone them. One of the things that I really want to do is to revamp this blog. I’ve mentioned in my Twitter account that I’ll change the theme of this site and everything. But I’m really not in the mood to make a new one. I already know how will my next layout should look like but I’m really lazy to do that now. I guess, for the mean time, I will change the banner of this current theme and hopefully, I will also find a good background image that I can use.

Lately, I’ve also started reading books again (I’m trying to read at least 20 books this year). So far, I have already read three books this year. Seventeen to go! (Sorry, I haven’t updated my “Books” page) But I’m not sure if I’ll get to my target as for sure, I’ll be tremendously busy for the rest of the year my college life. Right now, I’m reading “Atonement” by Ian McEwan. I’m enjoying it but there were parts where I felt bored. And oh, just before I move on, I want to say to Briony (a character from the book) that you’re stupid and you took it all wrong!

Last Sunday, we went to Quezon City and we visited two malls. Lol. I still don’t get it how TriNoma became a triangular mall and SM North Edsa’s The Block never failed to make me awe me with its magnificent structure (see the photos that I took in The Block below). For nine straight hours, we were in the malls that I mentioned and by the time we were going home, I really felt exhausted. Actually, that was my family’s so-called outing this summer. But I still hope that after my summer classes, we’ll go out of town and have a real excursion. That day, I bought three books: “Interpreter of Maladies” by Jhumpa Lahiri1, “The Yiddish Policemen’s Union” by Michael Chabon (finally, I’ve got a copy of this book), Yann Martel’s “Life of Pi” and Story Philippines’ latest edition which I confirmed that it’s not a magazine for children (read “Isabel Jimeno’s Price” by Jonathan Jimena Siason to know what I mean).

I guess, that’s all for tonight. Oh, I forgot to mention that I didn’t fail in any of my subjects. As a matter of fact, my grades are really okay. I have the chance that I’ll be a college scholar next school year. Dunno if I should be happy with that. We are just really required to attend the summer classes. I really don’t have any choice, unless I want not to graduate in time.

Win a Domain!

Please take note that I’m only giving one paid domain (.com, .net, .org, and .info only) and no hosting package is included. The domain is only good for one year.

10 Years from Now

Today is the third anniversary of the blog that you are currently viewing. Yes, Asteeg.Net is three years old. I renewed my site last month through bank deposit1. As of now, I’m not thinking if I would migrate to a new domain. And I guess, I would not dare to leave this site again2. This site has been my home in the Internet for three years and it has been a part of my life. So why buy a new one?

I was in the church this afternoon to hear mass when a question suddenly popped in my head… What would become of us in the next ten years? I almost laughed hard in public when I thought of that. I was glad that I didn’t. Just imagine what will the people in the church would think about me. As you all know, I’m a Harry Potter fan and one of the things that I realized in reading the series about death is that the unknown is what we fear, and not death itself. But in this case, the unknown makes me excited.

I can’t help but imagine that some of us would be married by 2018, and maybe, we would have our own children at that time. And for those who have already their own children, they would be old enough to have their own blogs. I can’t wait to see Neil to be successful in life. Would the Filipinos dominate the blogosphere? Would Yohan, the son of Ms. Rachel will have his own blog? Is there going to be a new term for blogs? When would I be able to join the TriNoma Blogger Food Tour? Lol! Would I be able to meet those bloggers that I admire? When would I be able to use my real name here again? Would we know the real identity of Dan Hellbound? When would my effing style in writing change? Would Asteeg.Net still exist 10 years from now? And the seven million jackpot question… Would we still be updating our blogs by that time?

These questions are currently boggling me. I want to know the answers to these questions, but of course, we would not be able to know them until the right time would come. I’m sure, even Ma*Damn Tusha3 and her electronic tarot cards would not be able to predict what is in store for us in the coming years. And besides, if we would know them at this point, the future will be spoiled and the element of excitement would not be there.

Of course, the future can wait. What we have to do now is to enjoy the present and let our past lead us to the future.

Abangan na lang natin ang mga susunod na kabanata (Let’s just wait for the next chapters.).

Catching Up

Sixteen days after my last update, at last, I have a new entry! Sorry for the unannounced hiatus. My blog went to hibernation because of school work. Only three weeks have passed since the second semester had started and I’m already tired. It seems that my professors’ favorite pastime is to give their students loads of assignments, researches, projects, reports and tests. So many deadlines, procrastination is my best friend. My only consolation is that I have a better schedule now, by dusk, I’m already home (except for Tuesdays) and I’ve got loads of break time (two and a half hours of break every Tuesdays and Thursdays and another extra hour every Tuesdays).

Yesterday, I had to go to the mall to get my invitation for the debut party that I’m going to attend on the very first day of December. The debutant is a grade school friend. Yeah, that’s how long I’ve known her. Some of my grade school friends (most are also my high school friends) were there to get their invitations. I didn’t expect that most of us are invited because we haven’t got in touch with her all these years, and if there is, only a little. The biggest surprise of all surprises is that the guy who we constantly linked with the debutant during our grade school days is also invited.

We’ve talked about so many things. We talked about the photo of the debutant in her invitation, we reacted that the photo was Photoshopped. And as my friends really love rumors (actually, most are facts but we still call them rumors), I knew that Friend A is now dating Previous Schoolmate-slash-Previous Classmate A (who’s studying aeronautics) again, Friend C had to stop studying, Friend D is now wearing braces whereas Friend E would have his braces removed sometime this week, Friend F shifted to another course, Friend G lost weight (whom I didn’t recognize until Friend D told me her name), Friend H’s suitor four years ago will be back here in the Philippines soon (he’s somewhere in North America right now, and from what I’ve heard, he’s in the military), and Previous Schoolmate B fathered a child. Ah, time flies so fast, and so many things happen in just a snap. I really miss my friends. I miss laughing hard just because of a small thing that others would not recognize as laughable. Laughing with my grade and high school friends is really different from laughing with my college friends.

As for me, aside from the fact that I’m busy with school, one of my blockmates had wet my clothes last Thursday (long story, and I don’t want to elaborate it), I’m reading “The Thirteenth Tale” by Diane Setterfield, enjoying my Statistics class, my Internet connection is not working (I’m on dial-up right now), Google Reader reports that I have 175 blog posts to read, hating my Literature subject because of my professor who talks very slow (we just finished the introduction), opened a new blog (I’ll be giving the link to a few selected ones), my cellphone started to show signs and symptoms that it’s going to die pretty soon, managed to lost my umbrella in school, and I now strongly believe that the weather reports here in the Philippines are not accurate.

Well, we spent our time mostly in talking (and laughing), we wanted to catch up with our latest experiences, and we’re craving to fill up the spaces that are still missing. But we had to stop because it was getting dark, one of us had other things to attend, while the others wanted to watch “One More Chance.” And because I don’t like watching Filipino movies (I think I have only seen three Filipino movies in the big screen during my 17 years of existence here on earth), I decided to go home1. I would rather pick a boring English movie than watch a corny Filipino flick.

I just hope during the debut of my friend, more spaces would be filled, that we’ll laugh so hard that we would look like rocking chairs, and we could plan an overnight party sometime during our Christmas vacation.

And if you’ve been following me in Twitter, you might perfectly know that one of my college friends is also inviting me to her debut party on the last day of November. Hell, two debut parties in two consecutive days! Euri says that I should attend both because debut parties = free food but debut parties = clothes + gifts to buy. And as of the moment, Christian = broke. Eek!
