Win a Domain!

This contest will run from today, February 07 to March 141 in celebration of Asteeg.Net’s third anniversary. The contest is open to all bloggers who do not currently have a paid domain, has at least 20 entries (excluding sponsored posts), and has been blogging for six months or more. Please take note that I’m only giving one paid domain (.com, .net, .org, and .info only) and no hosting package is included. The domain is only good for one year.

To enter this contest, here are the things that you have do.

  • Write an entry on your blog about anything. You can write whatever you want as long as it is entertaining. Entries in Tagalog and English are accepted. The entry should have at least 1000 words excluding the words that you’ll use for the note (please refer to the next item).
  • On the beginning of your blog post, include a note that that is your entry for this contest. Please link to this page (http://asteeg.net/2008/win-a-domain/) so that others will know about this contest.
  • Only one entry per blogger.
  • Drop a message in my e-mail, christian[at]asteeg[dot]net, regarding this contest. Please include your name, your blog URL, the permanent link of the blog post which serves as your entry for this contest, and your desired domain name2.

I’m the one who will judge the entries. The most entertaining entry will win this contest. The winner will be contacted by e-mail sometime in the latter part of next month. The winner will bag a domain name which will be registered under my name and after six months, if the winner deserves it, it would be transfered under the name of the winner. The domain should only be used for blogging purposes and nothing else.

Please take note that the domain is only good for a year. After that time is exhausted and the winner still likes the domain, he or she has to renew it.

The rules can be changed, so be sure to check this post frequently.

UPDATE: I know that it’s not yet the 14th, but I now close this contest. We don’t have any winner. As a matter of fact, I received no entries to this contest. Apparently, no one joined this contest and I didn’t expect that.

  1. Depending on the turn out of the participants, this could be extended. []
  2. The domain name will be subjected for my approval and be sure that it’s not taken yet. []

10 Years from Now

Today is the third anniversary of the blog that you are currently viewing. Yes, Asteeg.Net is three years old. I renewed my site last month through bank deposit1. As of now, I’m not thinking if I would migrate to a new domain. And I guess, I would not dare to leave this site again2. This site has been my home in the Internet for three years and it has been a part of my life. So why buy a new one?

I was in the church this afternoon to hear mass when a question suddenly popped in my head… What would become of us in the next ten years? I almost laughed hard in public when I thought of that. I was glad that I didn’t. Just imagine what will the people in the church would think about me. As you all know, I’m a Harry Potter fan and one of the things that I realized in reading the series about death is that the unknown is what we fear, and not death itself. But in this case, the unknown makes me excited.

I can’t help but imagine that some of us would be married by 2018, and maybe, we would have our own children at that time. And for those who have already their own children, they would be old enough to have their own blogs. I can’t wait to see Neil to be successful in life. Would the Filipinos dominate the blogosphere? Would Yohan, the son of Ms. Rachel will have his own blog? Is there going to be a new term for blogs? When would I be able to join the TriNoma Blogger Food Tour? Lol! Would I be able to meet those bloggers that I admire? When would I be able to use my real name here again? Would we know the real identity of Dan Hellbound? When would my effing style in writing change? Would Asteeg.Net still exist 10 years from now? And the seven million jackpot question… Would we still be updating our blogs by that time?

These questions are currently boggling me. I want to know the answers to these questions, but of course, we would not be able to know them until the right time would come. I’m sure, even Ma*Damn Tusha3 and her electronic tarot cards would not be able to predict what is in store for us in the coming years. And besides, if we would know them at this point, the future will be spoiled and the element of excitement would not be there.

Of course, the future can wait. What we have to do now is to enjoy the present and let our past lead us to the future.

Abangan na lang natin ang mga susunod na kabanata (Let’s just wait for the next chapters.).

*Raises glass for Asteeg.Net*

PS: I’m still thinking if I would have my own contest and give the winner a domain as a prize. I’ll just keep you all updated!

  1. I was wearing my school uniform on that day and the teller could not believe that I am a second year college student. She thought that I was only a high school student. Actually she asked me about three times if I’m a college student. []
  2. I almost lost this site last year. I moved to a new domain but I was enlightened that this domain is where I should stay. []
  3. She’s a fictional character that I and some of my friends have created back in our high school days. []

Tired.

Last week was a very long week to me because of my midterm exams. But that’s not all, last Monday, we still had two examinations. And even our exams were over, we were not yet allowed to breath freely because we had so many things to do.

I was only able to take a very nice sleep again yesterday even though I was not yet allowed to because of a test we had today in one of my major subjects. Today, I can have another good sleep even though tomorrow will be the second part of our midterm exam in English. Unlike my blockmates, I’ve memorized the poems I chose (Robert Frost’s “The Road not Taken”1 and an excerpt from “The Libation Bearers”2 by Aeschylus) days ago before our midterm exams started so I don’t have to worry about it too much.

Tomorrow will be the first death anniversary of my grandfather. Likewise, my uncle and aunt will arrive tomorrow from USA. That means, we’ll go to the airport3. So there are only slim chances that I will be able to go online tomorrow. During the weekend, I will not be at home because of the death anniversary of my grandfather. Actually, the rites will still be on Saturday, we have to wait for our relatives and everybody has work or have to go to school tomorrow.

Ah, even though I have plenty of free time, it’s still limited. Time is gold. I have to go now. I need to pack my things for school and for the succeeding days, my notebook included.

Bowling class again tomorrow! Oh no! I’m sure by Saturday, my body will be aching again. Oh, I’ll just read your blogs during the weekend!

  1. My favorite poem. []
  2. It was used as an epigraph in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows []
  3. Care to meet me there? Lol! []
