Yaya, Please Come Back

Effective on Saturday, we will me maid-less once again. No one would be left here in our house during the weekdays. It’s a bit scary because there were reported cases about criminals who go inside the houses and rummages the whole house for precious items like jewelries, notebooks, televisions, cellphones, refrigerators and washing machines and take them away. Okay, that was a bit exaggerated but you get the point. Now, those people with bad intentions know that our place is not guarded every Monday to Friday. Lol.

By the end of this week, the tasks that I don’t usually do would be passed to me like a prestigious title in a pageant. Urgh. I hate that. I’m pretty sure that the title of “King of Dishes” would be passed to me. I would be washing the dishes every now and then which I really hate because it’s very time-consuming and the task is a little messy and my hands get irritated with the dish washing soap. Joy doesn’t work for me. Axion, makes my hands itch even more. And I hate the smell of a bareta1. I’ve suggested to my parents that we should just use paper plates because no one wants to wash the plates and the other wares that we use. But it looks like they don’t want to eat on a paper plate. They find it cheap and inelegant. More than that, I would have other responsibilities that I have to meet which I don’t want to think as of now. Just the fact that I would be washing the dishes once again makes my blood pressure rise.

But maybe, with our impending maid-less days, I would be able to learn various domestic activities. Would you believe me that I don’t know how to polish my shoes? What about if I would tell you that I don’t know how to iron and wash my clothes? Would you believe me? At this point, I would like to tell emphasize that I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. It’s just that these things that I should know by now where not introduced to me. The catch is that I have other things to worry about like cleaning our comfort rooms. Yeah, I know it’s gross, but I do clean them. But as what I have said, maybe, this time, I would learn how to do these tiring activities. Besides, next school year, I would move to an apartment near my school. That’s why I really need to learn these things. The sad thing is that I don’t know where I can get Internet connection once I’m living in an apartment. Should I get a phone line named to myself?

I’m sure that we would miss our maid. She was the greatest maid that we employed. She’s really doing her best and you can see in her face that even though her task is difficult, she strives hard to do what she ought to do correctly. A few things that I would miss about our maid is that every night, while I am busy surfing the Internet she would shout “Christian, ilaw!”, asking me to turn on the light on our backyard. I would also miss calling her name and sounding the door bell numerous times every time that I would arrive. I would also miss her nauseous moments every time that she brushes her teeth. And of course, I will never ever forget that she, just like me and my younger sister got addicted with Grey’s Anatomy. Sosyal ang katulong namin!

On the other hand, even though she’s now leaving to expand her horizon, to explore the world and have the chance to get another job aside from being a maid, the gates of our house is always open for her. We would be glad to have her as a guest that we would serve with sumptuous food and entertain.

PS: I just want to tell everybody that Isley has already opened her blog. Please visit her site! Thanks!

[EDIT] For now, there would be no maid-less days for us because my parents have found a replacement for our old helper who is going to leave our home later this evening. And that means I will not be the king of dishes! Haha. I just hope that our new maid would turn out to be as good as our old one or even better. But this means that I would not be able to learn those simple things that I have to learn… and I would not be able to know how to operate our washing machine yet. Haha. Whatever. [/EDIT]

  1. A bar of soap that is used for washing clothes. []

  1. Hehe. I have seen myself in you. Swear. Although I’m not a rich kiddo, I find doing those things a bit hard. Yeah. It’s been 17 years of existence for me, pero wala talagang initiative or skill to do those things. Thank God, my mum (and my younger brother) can do all those chores for us. Hehe. :D

  2. Haha! Pareho tayo ngayon! We still haven’t found a new maid yet.

I hate cleaning because I sneeze like hell when I inhale too much dust. But it’s something I’ve learned and accepted to do when I started living in an apartment come college.

Maybe the fact that no one else will clean up fires up occasional ‘kasipagan’.

  3. Now’s the time to learn new things, things that you will also learn to hate. Like you, I don’t like doing the dishes. May I suggest Tupperclean for your dishwashing duties? It smells great, too ;) *Naks, a little ad* We’ve been maid-less since… I can’t even remember. So, yeah, I am maid made to do those dirty things.

  4. Great that you will now be able to enjoy the simple joys of life! ;-)

  5. it’s hard pa naman to find a good maid these days. ^^; i remember when our maid for like 9 years went to s’pore. nakakalungkot. but our maid ngayon worked for my cousins dati, so she’s trusted na.

you’re not the only one having a hard time with household chores and stuff. XD but at least i know kung pano maglaba and magcook. i had to study that in my elem years. buti nalang. :lol!:
fully booked is really cool talaga. but my cousin told me mas expensive daw books dun kaysa sa powerbooks? lol. pero mas maraming books sa fully booked. whenever i enter powerbooks kasi, it’s like i know na what books are there. siguro dahil powerbooks lang yung napupuntahan ko sa mall na malapit samin. LOL

  6. well, its time for you to learn those domestic activities. You’re not a kid anymore kiddo! hehehe I hate doing the dishes too kasi masisira nail polish ko hahaha kidding! kala ko babae lang ang may ayaw maghugas ng plato.

  7. we are also having our maid-less days right now. and i am the queen of the dishes. haha. but atleast you are willing to learn new things.

  9. Don’t hate doing thhe dishes. lol. Pano na ‘yan kung gusto mo ng maging dependent one day. like mag-isa ka lang sa isang condo.

You need to learn new things din, dibadibs?

  10. I guess it’s nigh time for you to, what else? GROW UP. o^_^o

  11. I live with my fiance & we never had any help. It could be tiresome to have to do all the chores but it somewhat ups your sense of responsibility & you have less people to worry about. A household of 2 is more than ok without a yaya.

But since you live with your family, hermmm I understand how it could be a hassle. More dishes, more clothes to wash & more junk to gather. I’m sure you’ll soon be able to adjust. More people at home does mean more people to share chores with, right? :/
