Wi-Fi

Haay. Naka dial-up lang ako sa bahay. Yung maingay. Yung eeeeeee grrrrrr eeeeee. Tapos failed, kaylangang ulitin ulit1.

Five of my high school friends invaded our home and abused our Internet connection via wi-fi. It all started back in Saturday, when I and some of my friends in high school (a few of them where the same people who invaded our home) played badminton. I did not play much and there was nothing special with it so I will not talk more about it. After we played, we went straight to a mall here in Pampanga, despite that something had blasted in Glorietta 2 the day before that which resulted to a big accident leaving the part of Glorietta 2 where the accident happened unusable, 11 dead, and 129 others injured2. As of the time of writing this, the investigators of the accident doubt that it was a cause of terrorism. They still don’t have a concrete evidence that it was a bomb or anything of that sort that set-off this disaster.

When we got there with all of the bags we were bringing, we expected the security guards to inspect us thoroughly. But we got inside without them inspecting our bags. Come on, they should do their job! They should inspect everybody and their baggages no matter what the gender, age, and how the patrons look like. You see, they were busy chatting with each other. Of course, they can talk freely but they should do what they’re supposed to do because they’re being paid.

We strolled around the mall and ended up in Greenwich. It has been ages since I last ate there. I ordered Lasagna Supreme. Their lasagna is really great and it’s still included in the list of my favorite foods. On that same day, I bought a wireless router. Our phone line is busted yet again for the nth time. We have a temporary line in our dinning room, but I really hate surfing the Internet there because I don’t have any privacy so I bought one.

I have successfully set up the router in no time. But it took me a day to set up the network in our home. Figuring the firewall rules on my Windows Vista and on the old computer’s Windows XP turned my brain into nuts. Setting the network was really hard.

And today, around noon, one of my friends IMed me that he wants to go here in our house and surf the Internet for his paper. He complained that the Internet fee in a local Internet cafe was expensive. I had only less that 30 minutes to prepare myself. He brought with him his notebook so we were able to browse the Internet at the same time. We also had a good time chatting. We watched the funny videos produced by Christine AKA Happy Slip via YouTube, laughed at the stupid answer of Miss Teen USA South Carolina 2007 to her question, shared with him some of the programs that I use, and he told me that he left his orgmates from UP who were in his house3. Lol.

And then, another friend texted me, she wants to go here in our house to browse the Internet too. But she was not alone when she got here. She was with three of our high school classmates. Ah, I miss my high school classmates. I miss the way they make me laugh. I miss laughing with them with almost anything we see, hear or read. I miss our bonding. I miss high school. I miss our stupidity.

Nevertheless, I had a good time with them and I really hope that I’ll meet most of my high school friends this semester no matter if there is an available wireless connection or not. What I am after is to see them and talk with them again like there’s no tomorrow. Currently, I have seen eight out of 47 high school classmates this sembreak.

  1. It was one of my friends who said this, out of jealosy. []

  3. Kuya Rex is one of them. []

You know what’s sadder about this incident? A lot of d!ckheads from politics are making conclusive statements to make them ’sikat’. The public naman, even though it has not been identified if it was indeed a bomb or an accident, eh umeepal accusing this and that of this and that. Ang galing, pinangunahan ang factual findings with their unverified theories. A lot of d!cks try to benefit from the exposure in the media from the suffering and miseries of the common citizens. Why don’t they just effin help support the victims and investigation?

    Siyempre publicity yun!

Oo nga, when me and my friends went to the mall din last Saturday, as if walang nangyaring malagim sa Glorietta. Lintek na guards na nagchichismisan pa. Kaya maraming di umaasenso, they don’t prove to their management that they’re worth a promotion or salary increase. To think of it that SM was having a three day sale so maraming tao masyado. We didn’t want to go to the mall talaga but there are unavoidable circumstances, pinacheck namin yung phone nung kasama namin eh.

  2. I wish I could play badminton outdoors but the weather is always too cold and windy and my school is too far away for evening badminton. The accident sounds quite scary actaully since I haven’t actually heard anything like it before now and security checking bags at malls? Well… I must agree with you though. Lasagna is good and anything Italian is just amazingly delicious. It’s a pity Italian restuarants are so hard to find. Anyway, I put your link up and thanks for the response. =) Take care and have a good week.

  3. Aww, I miss my high school classmates too.

  4. Gean: Oh, sorry, I haven’t written in my post who said that line which made you think I’m using dial-up again. It was my friend, nainggit siya sa akin, kase naka wi-fi na ako.

  5. dial-up i feel nostalgic air.btw
    nice-entry :)

    People aren’t reading, don’t they?

  7. You make me wanna get a router, but my parents will probably kill me since they know how addicted I get when I’m connected. What more pa, wireless. :D
I’m seeing a highschool friend tomorrow and I’m excited! Good for you Christian, instead of whining, you seem to be such a generous friend :)

  8. Well honestly, I never really liked most of my highschool classmates. The good ones can be counted with just my hand fingers. :ouch:
But then I LOVE my Elementary pals. Three of them were really special. Mga Kababata. We haven’t seen each other for ages. One’s an aspiring nurse in UST, the other one’s a gamefreak ECE jerky from Lasalle and the pretty one turned into a beautyqueen HRM baby from UP. We miss the PowerFour. Ang guess what they’re planning a reunion! :boogie:
Ah, the nostalgia and the memories of the past makes us temporarily forget the gruesome college life.

i watch happy slip videos too. XD kakatawa kasi may Filipino touch lahat [well, halos.. haha] XD

  10. when I first got my Wi-Fi connection at home, I did not put a password to it to secure the connection… for months I let my neighbors steal a connection off of me. when I finally decided to put a password, I realized how much faster my internet connection could have been if i had put the password early on. HAHA.

But that’s funny how your friends come over cuz of the wi-fi. My mom snaps at me when I tell her “Im going to starbucks to chill and surf the net” … ahah, knowing that we have wi-fi at home and paying for a wi-fi connection in starbucks.. she freaks out. heh.

    Wi-Fi….. good stuff, huh? =]

  12. That is nice! I only saw one classmate from highschool since I arrived here in Cebu. Well I was planning to be incognito anyway except for the people that I am closed with

  13. There always comes a time when I’d even insist to the security guards that they inspect my bag. Evidently, some people don’t do their frigging jobs effectively.

Anyway, how much does your wireless router cost? Details?

  14. Congrats on your newly-bought router! I remember when I first used my router, it took a while for my internet connection to fully stabilised. Unfortunately, right now, my internet connection is going bonkers. As for the ’setting the network’ procedure, for some reasons, I didn’t encounter that. Everything was set up by itself and was going smoothly, except for the ’stabilisation’ which really took a while. (I’m not exactly good with technical terms, so I struggled to find the right words to say.)

I wonder when I will see my high school friends. Right now, I’m miles away from them, so it’s pretty impossible. But still, I’m looking forward to that day.

Ahahah! I miss the Lasagne from Greenwich! Err well, lasagne is my favourite food so I buy one, whenever I see those microwavable ones from shops.

As for the G2 bombing, I refuse to comment on that, as I don’t exactly know what happened (since I’m still caught up with some school stuffs).

  15. I also got a new router, only a few days ago. I didn’t set up the network, though. My computer technician did it for me since I’m busy with school work.

So far, I have met more than 10 of my batch mates. Some of them, I never really get to interact with. Guess that’s what I love about sweet endings. I wish I could spend more “bonding” time with my close friends, though. I miss them to death.

  16. Hi Christian. The Glorietta incident was a terrible tragedy. My heart goes out to all those who died and got injured during the blasting. I just don’t understand how someone can be so heartless to let so many innocent people suffer that way.

Anyway, thanks for always taking time to visit me. Malapit na ang sem break. Have a relaxing vacation.

BTW, I have something for you on my blog. I will post it within the day. Take care and God bless.

  17. hahaha, kakamiss din ang dial up LOL.

have a nice sembreak, and oh. you dropped by my site, i dropped by yours so that means ex links! :P

  19. I’m so late to visit your blogge. How come I missed some of your posts? Anyway, I haven’t arranged my clearance slip due to busyness and all, and my feet doesn’t suggest to stand 10 minutes of stagnation. Heel bruise and all.

In our school? Gawd, enrollment is mayhem. Though the cashiers are considerate enough to allow students to enroll by paying only a thousand, there were only 3 stalls to accommodate thousands of us.

  20. Magkano ang wireless router? Last Sunday, our parish priest’s brother (na orgmate namin ni Roman) asked me to fix our parish priest’s problem with his wireless router. Hindi ko naman ma-figure out, kasi Vista and all and I didn’t have enough time. Tapos ikaw din, meron. Nainggit naman ako, haha!

I was at Roman’s that day. Buong araw siyang wala, haha!

Wanna Comment?
