Effing ISP
I hate my ISP so much that I want to throw things at it! What they give is not just! You see, we’re paying for the service! Oh, don’t tell me to call the customer service as I really hate talking to people who work in that department. They tend to slow down things. They know what seems to be the problem but they won’t tell you.
So what’s my problem? I always see my site down for four consecutive days. I asked my host about it, and they said that there is no problem with their end. According to my host, my ISP might be suffering from “Selective Browsing” problems. I really hate it. I wanted to upgrade my two other WordPress installs but I can’t because of this. (At the moment, I could only access this blog)
Is there anybody out there who also experience this?
[EDIT] I just called the customer service hotline of my ISP. Mr. Customer Service Representative, with a very gloomy voice, as if he was going to cry any moment reckons that they don’t have any problems with their end also. He said that the servers where this site is hosted are the ones responsible for my problem, but I think he is wrong as I know somebody for a fact who can’t access my site also and I can access my site on other computers. He suggested that clearing my cache could solve my problem. I tried it but nothing happened. He also said that there might be some heavily encoded scripts in my site with JavaScript and all, but hey, it’s my site, I know what I put in my site. It’s been almost a year since I subscribed to this ISP and I only encountered such problem just now. It just really pisses me. Tomorrow, I’ll buy an internet card and I’ll try using it instead. And if it would work I’ll definitely call one more time. Oh, before I forget, it was so evident that Mr. Customer Service Representative was trying to slow down things as the pauses before he replies to each of my queries were long!

PS: No, I’m not on DSL and I have no plans to subscribe for any. I’m on a dial-up connection and I can still bear its slowness. Besides, for PHP 200.00 (or add a little more), I can spend countless hours connected to the internet. In short, unlimited! Saan ka pa? Haha! [/EDIT]

Awww that sucks big time amp. buti pa ISP ko hahahaaha Smart Bro ka nalang! mas okay! wala pa atang time na nagdown sila. hehehe. And yeah! i upgraded na rin sa Wp. 2.1 hahaha. hope mafiix na ang problem niyo. Me loves to call to Customer Services gahahaha,.

Sherica: Smart Bro? As far as I know, they also encounter problems, load of them! Well, that was what some of my blockmates who are currently subscribed to the stated ISP above said to me. Argh… I really hate this!

Hey, good luck with your ISP. So far I’ve never had any unusual encounters since we’re on LAN and have our own IP, which is from my mom’s office. I mean it’s a corporate thing, and we got the privelage. (:

At first I thought you’re on DSL. Smart Bro? It’s just good for those who are in the provinces and not here in the metropolis. I’ll prefer Globelines instead. But if you still can take the dial-up connection, it’s just fine. When this DSL connection has TANTRUMS, I still use internet cards.
Those people just don’t want to do their jobs. Lazy.

Anyway, PhP200 lang?! I pay PhP560/month for an unlimited dial-up connection! Ano yan?!

Shari: Oh, I think my ISP is not accepting new subscribers. It was a promo which I luckily saw at the news papers.

We were supposed to get SmartBro months ago but there’s no signal here while the installation for DSL is too damn expensive. It’s even more expensive than your monthly bills.
Remember when I PMed you the last time regarding your site?? We have poor internet service here in the Philippines

i’m using Smartbro.. and yes… i have encountered several downtimes whenever i use the internet…. most especially during the night hours.. but anyway, i hope this prob will be fix.

last suunday nagloko maghapon ang isp ko, tinawagan ko naiinis lang ako kasi parang di magandang kausap, sila pa galit eh ako na nga ang nasiraaan ng linya. kaiinis talaga. walang sense of customer service

First of all, thank you sa email na pinadala mo sa akin about sa bago mong url.
Hindi pala DSL ang connection mo? I thought you’re on DSL. I want to have DSL or Broadband connection so badly. I’m on dial-up (prepaid) kasi and I hate it. Ang bagal, nakakasawa tuloy magblog. Haha!
Walang silbi talaga yang mga customer service people. Why d h3ll did they put them there when they too can’t solve ‘our’ problems. It’s there job.tsk tsk.

hi there. Smart bro? naku share ko experience ko..
I was having intermitent connection since December 6, so I called them up. sabi field visit. so field visit.. after 2 days.. ganun parin. so I called for rebates and they told me na accepted lang ang rebates pag normal na connection. so i waited till december 17 or 19 i guess. dun lang ako tumawag.. for rebates.. then again nag ka problem ulit. nireport ko naman from by dec 20. then antay ko normalize. It only normalize ng jan 3 siguro so for pa effect nalang, i asked for 19 - 24 for rebates. kasi sira talaga. walang feedback kung ano nangyari. not until i called them kung ano na nangyari sa rebates ko, they only approved, dec 8-10 and december 17-19!! WTF! alam niyo rason nila?? Wala daw ako reports ng succeeding days! E kung di pa naman sila tanga, ano sila twagan ko araw araw? may work din ako at binabayaran ko lang sila!
I was also scheduled for field visit and for the 4th time, ang sabi nila wala daw tao sa bahay. Sarado daw. And san ka naman nakakita ng bahay sa manila na open??? di man lang kumatok tumawag e binigay ko naman ung contact number ko???
I can’t control my feelings when I called them up. Minura mura ko sila. then they said prioritize daw ako ng following day. un pala the next day pa ung pinang sched samin without even calling or consulting us! useless Smartbro mga tol! wag na kayo gumamit nun! Di lang bobo mga cust care nila, wala ring modo, pag di na masagot tanong binabagsakan ka or kina cut.. kaya pag tumatawag na ako sa kanila minumura ko na sila
