My Site and Miss Universe 2007

Asteeg.Net

According to the statistics Google Analytics has complied for me since the 10th of May last year, 50.22% of my visitors are using Mozilla Firefox as their browser and 45.29% are using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. I expect that in the next couple of years, more Internet Explorer users are going to switch to Firefox. It is more secure than Internet Explorer and there are so many things that you can do with it. As for traffic sources, I was shocked to see that only 24.04% of my visitors visited my site directly, the remaining 75.96% were able to go here from referring sites and search engines.

That’s how will be my site would look like when I’ve already fixed the CSS. Um, anybody out there who would want to help me finish it? I’m lazy to fix it. Whenever I start to fix it, I always get frustrated and end up doing other things.

If you’re using Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer 7.0, you can now search my site without even visiting it. I created my own add-on. If you want to install and try it, click the button that’ll display your installed search engines on your browser and choose “Add Asteeg.Net”.

Miss Universe 2007

Congratulations to Ms. Japan for winning the crown. There was no suspense at all when they proclaimed Ms. Japan as the winner. That really sucks.

Ms. Philippines, Ana Theresa Licaros bagged the Miss Photogenic award. Okay, how many times did the Philippines got this award? Lol. Congratulations Ms. Licaros!

Oh, the candidate from Korea was beautiful, and did you see Ms. USA slipped?

So I’m Addicted With Snidget?

Almost two weeks after I acquired Snidget (my brand new notebook), my father is now accusing me of using my notebook excessively. I guess, I’m guilty. The accusation against me is correct. I’m just only using my laptop for more than ten hours daily. Bad, eh? But then, if I won’t do so, there’s nothing left for me to do. This is the only way I can fight boredom.

Thanks to del.icio.us and Digg, they’re keeping me busy. I’ve seen spectacular sites, gain some new knowledge and laughed with only just these two sites.

Now, I’ll be sharing to you the sites or pages that I’ve been visiting lately.

  • 1-click Award — The site is in Japanese, but you don’t have to read anything. Just look at the embedded Flash on this site (and try clicking on it). It was hilarious! I want that cursor on my notebook!
  • Drivl.com | The 22 Worst Place Names in the World — Funny. Did you know that there’s a place called F*cking in Austria? Eh? Now, I wonder what are the worst place names here in the Philippines.
  • Upside-Down-Ternet — Though no one is stealing my wireless internet access, how I wish this is possible with a PC. Do you know how to do this in Vista? Teach me! This how-to is for Linux users.
  • Gateway II — A Flash game for those people with a high IQ.
  • Line Game — Another Flash game, but this time, for everyone!
  • Hack DNS for lightning-fast Web browsing — I’ve done this ages ago, and I can say that it’s effective. You should try it, especially those who are still using dial-up.

Well, that’s all for now. There’s really nothing to tell you nowadays.

PS: I’m not sure about this, but has Google acquired FeedBurner recently?

Big Surprises

Last Sunday, I and my family had another unplanned trip. This time, we went to Subic where we had some fun in the beach. I miss Subic so much, I think it has been seven years since we last went there (and about four years since I last went to a beach). Here are some photos from our recent trip to Subic.

Summer

Let's go to the Beach!

And of course, I want you to meet Snidget.

Vistah!

Yep, that’s Snidget, my brand new notebook. It’s a Compaq Presario V3324TU Notebook PC (click the link to see the specifications).

I got the name Snidget from the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by JK Rowling under the pen name Newt Scamander. It’s a magical creature that can fly fast. Before, the Snidget was used in the game of Quidditch.

As you can have seen in the picture, my laptop’s operating system is Windows Vista, and hey, Vista rocks! I like some of the new features like the sidebar (which can be found in your desktop). I’m not sure if other computers have it, but my notebook has a feature called voice recognition. I can simply say what I want to type! Isn’t that cool?

Now, are you wondering how I got this laptop? My father decided to buy me this notebook so that I’ll stick with the course that I took the previous academic year. I just hope I made the right decision.

Nevertheless, I’m enjoying my brand new laptop. It’s already one day old and I’ve already installed lots of programs that I use like Mozilla Firefox (plus the add-ons and plugins), Yahoo! Messenger, and Xampp.

Argh! I don’t have Microsoft Office! I badly need that application. Now, I’m wondering how much is the license of that application…

Yeah, this is another lame post.

Excessive Marathons

Look! An update, but this does not mean that I’m not in hiatus mode anymore, unless I’ll have other things to say in the coming days.

Two days ago, I and some friends (from high school and grade school) played badminton at a local court. As usual, I’m the one who waited for the others to arrive. No matter how I procrastinate, I still end up waiting. And that’s frustrating me!

By noon, we were all at a local branch of McDonald’s and as most of us haven’t ate lunch, we decided to eat first. After an hour, we we’re already playing. The entrance fee was cheap: PHP 50.00, until you drop. The thing is, I’m neither a badminton enthusiast nor a sports aficionado. I’m no good at any sports. It’s just so ironic to me that I was there. Still, I played: I won in some games, I lost in most games. Lol! Nevertheless, I had a great time.

While catching our breath, we ridiculed our teachers back in high school, here are a few examples that made us laugh once again.

  • Pagtrabayuhin
  • Kumbintu
  • “Is zero an odd number?”
  • *Teacher tries to spell the word ‘ghost’* G-O-S-T “Kulang po ng ‘H’.” G-O-S-H. Gosh! Wooohoo!
  • “Okay, I’ll call you in random.” (I thought to myself: “Cool! He knows the word ‘random’!”) Well, our teacher called us alphabetically. Do you call that random?
  • One of our teachers mispronounced “gauge” as “goose.” He gave us a weak alibi: “Sorry, malabo yung photocopy ko.” All of our copies were clear!

Two days after our badminton session, my body still aches. I’m having a hard time moving. But I’m still looking forward to our next badminton session next week.

*****

I’m also having Heroes and Grey’s Anatomy marathons. These two programs are great. Way to go, Tim Kring and Shonda Rhimes!

As for Amazing Race, I didn’t expect that Eric and Danielle will win. As usual, the last roadblock was hard. Nevertheless, congratulations to them!

Sorry for this lame entry.
