Room of requirements

Got inspired of Tammy’s latest entry…

The Room of Requirements is a room in Harry Potter’s world where it can turn into any room — cupboard, rest room, bedroom, name it!

I can say that the Room of Requirements is just like our library in my previous school: it can be the perfect place to study, do some research about your project, read the bestselling books written by various authors, know the latest issues in our society or talk with your friends, know the latest hearsays around the school, make it a studio and take your pictures here and there and it can even be a good place to do some practice for a play, or even play Scrablle and Chess!

Every time we had to go to the library (the whole class) to do some research about something, we rush to the library. We don’t even care if we’re on a line! Once we’re there we get all the books (that has something to do with our topic) that we can. We don’t even care if we get the same titles. After which we start to skim the pages of the stinking old books. Alas, we only get little information that’s why we end up copying each other’s work. There are some computers with internet access that are available but we don’t use them because we don’t want to spend money. Haha.

During my second to the last year in that school, our library was the superb place to know the latest rumors circulating the campus because there were vandalisms in the carrels. There were rumors written in the carrels that some teachers in our school are um, well, I don’t want to tell it which I believe is true and two freshmen students who made a miracle (in Tagalog, himala, I don’t know if you’ll get this). It’s really funny that these kinds of rumors were circulating in our school during my stay there.

Some of my classmates go to the library during our break times (recess and lunch time, both thirty minutes each) not to borrow a book — and not also to eat — but to abuse the resources, I mean, it’s a good place to stay because it has air-conditioning units. And due to their boredom they made our library a studio. Yes, they were taking pictures (and even videos) using their camera phones. Good thing, the librarians did not notice them doing so.

It was also used as a dressing room during a large presentation in our school. I even coincidentally went there during that day when our small library turned into a dressing room. The actors and actresses were doing their finishing touches and everybody was rushing.

It was also the same room used by the Peer Counselors Club during their meeting. And speaking of this club, the officers of the Peer Counselors Club were the ones who put the library back into its original state when a book hunt contest was held there during the book week celebration. I was neither an officer nor a member anymore at that time but since all of the officers of the said club were my classmates I decided to help them. What a big mess!

I’ll miss our library. The library that can turn to any room that you like…

Hehe

  2. Our library requires us to borrow 30 books and 40hours usage of internet (free) for the whole school year or your clearance card won’t be signed. Our library got a very old book collection! hahahahah… Vandalisms are present in our library too..

  3. wow multi-purpose lib. d pwede s min yan (nung hs) kasi maliit lang yung lib. well, dati sobrang laki niya pero it was demolished and they built classrooms there instead. nainis nga ako nun eh. oh well.

i love libraries (wag lang creepy) because, well, I love books. :)

  4. Being nostalic huh? Hmmm… Anyway, my high school library was never like that. Ours sucked, maybe because hindi pa masyadong renovated noon and not that high-tech. Oh well…

In my case, siguro yung practice room namin before. We could rehearse our dance routines (I was a part of this HS modern dance group), choir, plays, or just hang-out pag walang magawa.

Aaaw. Stop! I hate you Louie, coz you’re contagious… Hehe…

  5. heya! wow… your library sounds like fun! hahah! heck, our school doesnt even have a library.. haha! it’s so small kc! :rawr: yeah, i wish i had a room of requirement at my house.. that would be cool! hahaha

  6. Like what I commented in Tam’s post, gustong gusto ko ang UST Central Lib. Ansaya eh. Kaso sobrang laki.

  7. ayos naman ng lib niyo. samin stric ngayon eh…. you’re really not allowed to do anything but research.

  8. Gano’n din kami. Once na may nakakita na ng sagot, tapos na problema, kopyahan na lang. Library is one of the places I treasured most when I was in HS (ah, nakakamiss!) I was even tagged “library-girl.” Lalala… The library is an energizing place for an introvert like me. ;)
BTW, your school library sounds cool. Parang ang daming puwedeng gawin. Puro pa vandalisms hehe. I love reading vandalisms. ;)

  9. I don’t know why but I’ve never went to school that makes the library useful. Nakakainggit naman. It’s just now (in college) that I experienced going to the library to make some hardcore research. Nung nasa QC Science pa ako, may mga out-of-school research days kami sa UP Diliman, minsan hanggang UP Los Baños pa. And so lucky, may computers kayo (kahit may bayad). I went in a private school with an unreasonable tuition fee and they have no computer units (except sa computer subject namin)! Asar! *sighs*

A bit nostalgic, aren’t we? I love reading funny vandalisms LOL. You know the chant, “(insert name here), (insert partner’s name here) sitting in the tree (teka mali yan pero hindi ko na maalala)…F - * - C - K - * - N - G.” (Sorry for this! Sorry talaga!)

PS: Nung grade school ako, ang teacher’s faculty room ang bihisan namin pag may school plays. Haha.

PPS: I’ve never noticed it before, pero chismoso ka ha. *kutos* LOL. Alam mo kung nasaan ang mga balita. Haha…

About your comment re: Give Credit…I agree na tempting talaga ang magbenta ng layouts, pero unfair yun diba? *sighs* I really have no problems with people forgetting to link their credits. I admit that I, too, forget sometimes. Pero ang ayoko talaga ay yung mga taong nagbebenta ng layout claiming sole credit for it. In the first place, although sabihin man nilang nahirapan sila sa pagawa ng layouts, nahirapan ding gawin nung mga resources nila yung brushes, patterns, etc na ginamit nila para magkapera. Grrrr..Nakakainis talaga noh? I’m glad I got that out of my system, and thanks for understanding what I’m trying to say sa blog ko.
