Past times
My summer’s getting boring as days slowly passes by. Obviously, there’s nothing remarkable in my life lately to blog about. Well, except for the things you’ll read below. Half of the summer’s already gone, and soon, my college life will officially start.
In the light of this boring summer holidays, I was too desperate to find a good read. It’s been a while since I last read a book with a good plot. I’ve been searching the internet for an interesting book and scanning the shelves of NBS for ages. Mind you, I’m a bit choosy on what book to read. If I don’t like the book, I’ll just keep it in our shelves here at home. I don’t like those books of Paulo Coelho and the likes… I don’t like his style. And as much as possible I only buy those international bestseller books and/or written by a respected author. While searching the internet for good books, I found this interesting title: “Miracle in the Andes”, a true-to-life story of a survivor from a plane crash. It’s not yet released so I have to find other suitable books for me. Well, I saw an interesting book after days and days of scanning the dusty (only a little) books on NBS . The book’s called “Bee Season”… it’s about a child who does not have any talents at all but during her fifth grade, she was able to discover a new talent — spelling. Actually, I already saw that book ages ago but I was not reading the synopsis of the book until yesterday. Well, I can somehow relate to the protagonist so I decided to buy it.
But what I really want to read is a love story that has nothing to do with married couples, widowers, a divorcee and the likes. It just makes me go “yuck” and “eeew” when I read novels like that. I want something like “A Walk to Remember”, well, except for the girl dying. Can you recommend me a good one?
Another way I found out to fight boredom is to watch TV. No, I’m not speaking of the teleseryes, asianovelas or PBB. I’m currently enjoying (once again) NGC’s programs like:
The Gospel of Judas. I already watched it and I don’t believe it. The NGS’s claiming that the codex they are holding is authentic. Yeah, I can say that the codex was written ages ago. I don’t question the steps that the NGS did to authenticate the codex if it’s from the ancient world or not. But what’s flooding my mind is if those accounts written in that codex are correct and accurate. What if that gospel was written by a person who really loathes Christianity so there can be chaos to uprise after discovering it.
Be the Creature’s (literally) a funny show. Those two hosts are really stupid. Lol. They’re mimicking whatever the animals that they were featuring did. And if I’m not mistaken, they even tried eating the food that the animals they’re featuring are feeding on in one of their episodes. Lol. Gross.
Lastly, Air Crash Investigation’s the best. I really like it. Even though I watch it, I have not inquired aviophobia or the fear of flying. Well, at least, I already know a little about the things that might happen during a plane disaster.
PS: It looks like that our PBB housemates’s favorite past time is crying. Lol. A lot of them had already shed buckets of tears. Lol. And I might as well develop a Ephebiphobia because of them. Lol! I can’t help but laugh at them. No offense to PBB fanatics out there!
And yes, new layout.

I dont believe in it either.

Hmmm, mapili ka rin pala sa mga books. Ah yeah, I heard Paulo Coelho. Fave author ng mga ate ko. Okay naman yung mga libro nya ah. Hehe. Pero kung ayaw mo talaga, edi mga books na lang ni Nicholas Sparks, since sabi mo gusto mo yung A Walk to Remember (btw, binabasa ko yun ulit this summer ahaha. cant get enough! :P) Also, why not try Mitch Albom novels. Best-seller din

Goodluck at finding that perfect summer book

Hey1 Wow you love books pala and you’re kinda mapili.. I heard lots of positive comments on Paulo Coelho books but I would want to read The Five People You Meet in Heaven.hehe. I also got to watch that Gospel of Judas and it was sort of convincing but I guess it was just a test of faith:dizzy: and Im never believeing things like that. Hehe. Yeah, the layout is cool, kakaiba siya I saw the first of its kind here in your blog.

books i recommend:
sharing sam (katherine applegate) - its a bit sad but interesting yung plot. two best friends having the same feeling with a guy. tapos the guy has a mutual feeling also sa isa and the twist? read it to know! hehe..
flipped (wendelin van draanen) - ito young lovestory ung plot nagrevolve lang sa young stage ng life nila.. pero i like the way how they built a strong foundation on their friendship and then led to mutual understandings and so on… basta flipped nga talaga yung story!
uy i love the books of paulo coelho, he is very well knowing about religion, love and purpose. how he connects it to a story is just mind twisting… anyway, it’s your opinion naman. can’t contradict with that.

forgot to comment about that GOJ, i really want to watch it in NGC however i missed it tapos di ko na alam kung kailan nireplay. siguro they really intend to show that time for the movie of da vinci code. para mas controversial…

I also like watching NGC,but I don’t spend my time watch TV anymore.
I’m an open-minded person and I don’t think whoever wrote ‘the gospel of judas’ meant to destroy christianity, it was just talking about jesus and judas relationship if it existed. if Judas didn’t betray jesus then you christian wouldn’t worship jesus the same way with a passion and using the cross as simbolism for your sins or whatever.
Be the creature is hosted by the Kratt brothers, hehehe memorize. I remember them from when I was 8 on a TV show, also about animals in a Kids Network and I guess they moved to NGC.
I don’t watch air crash investigation because I don’t like.
May 2, 2006 @ 6:09 pm
hrrrm…yung ibang mga books ni nicholas sparks (author of a walk to remember), puro mga love story din (i have most of his books) pero mas older nga lang ang mga characters. gusto ko the notebook & the guardian.
i watched an episode of air crash investigation once or twice. haha. asteeg nga.

I’m just wondering, which books of Paolo Coelho have you read? If by any chance it’s the Alchemist, you should give him another chance. He is not all together the same in all his novels. I suggest Veronika Decides to Die or By the River Piedra I sat Down and Wept. Of course I’m not forcing you or anything but truth be known, you’re the first person I know who doesn’t like Coelho (aside from a few who has only read the Alchemist). And for my friends and I, he’s just pure poetry

Whoa Louie! You gave me a surprise! This layout is so NOT you! I like it! LOL
Yey college life! Where will you study? Anyways, a good book. I’m into books, but I’m not really that picky or anything. I buy what I can, and more often than not, I buy sale books. The more the merrier kasi. I find best-selling books impossibly expensive, so most of the time I lay my hands off them. That’s why I almost cried when NBS in Cubao ceased the sale books they had on the 4th floor. You wouldn’t believe the books they sold there, good books which only cost Php2-30! I have lots of books I bought there for only Php5. Hah! Life WAS good. That was about 8 years ago. Hehe!
Paolo Coelho’s The Alchemist hasn’t really made an impression on me, but if I hear he’s good, then he must be. I’m planning to buy other books of him. But it really irritated me when I found out that The Alchemist was such a short story for such an expensive book. I have my eyes on Tuesdays with Morrie, 5 People You Meet in Heaven, Shanghai Baby, and a lot others. The problem is that I can’t afford these books. I’m broke, really.
PBB? Eek..I really don’t like that show, especially now. Teens?! Kalokohan! Hay! Anyways, buti pa kayo, may NGC. We don’t have NGC here (Global Destiny Cable). We found out about it when we were really looking forward to watching the Gospel of Judas and we didn’t find the darn channel. Kainis. Even if I watched it, I don’t know what I’ll think. But, it’s like with The Da Vinci Code. If you have strong faith in Him, all else wouldn’t matter. And the Church must accept the fact that people aren’t that gullible to believe ng basta-basta na lang diba? Kasiraan sa kanila, but Filipinos are solid Christians. Sa ginagawa nilang pag-repress sa showing ng tDVC, parang..Ewan..Haaay..
BTW, if you have Crime Suspense, it’s worth watching the channel too. Kaso paulit-ulit kasi konti lang shows nila. Pero ang gaganda..Lalo tuloy akong naiinspire maging lawyer..The shows are brilliant.

PBB? eek! haha

Hmm, good book to recommend. . . I suggest Neil Gaiman’s books. Kung na-tripan mo ang HP tingin ko magugustuhan mo din ‘to. Isa pa lang ang nababasa ko, that is “Neverwhere,” pero nagp-plano na akong basahin pa ang iba n’yang books like “Stardust.”
