During my sophomore year in HS one of us was required to report at least three news everyday during our Araling Panlipunan class. One of my classmates get some news from the tabloids and you know what kind of news you can get there… no, I’m not speaking of the latest rumors that you can find at the “centerfold”. To give you more idea what I’m talking about here is the summary of the news: a mother forced her baby to drink bleach. I know it’s a sad story but we were all laughing at that time. I was also able to read stupid news from a tabloid: a gay got killed because he’s playing with a bomb. You see, you won’t get sensible news from tabloids.

If you really want to read something that has sense, buy the broadsheets instead! My favorite broadsheets are the Philippine Daily Inquirer (especially the 2BU section) and Philippine Star. Just a random fact about me, I read the news paper from good to bad in other words, back to front. Just don’t buy me a copy of Manila Bulletin, I don’t have time to read long articles and I’m not looking for a job! Lol. (I hope you know what I’m talking about).

Well, you can now also read news straight from your computer or laptop via the internet and even in your cellphone. CNN is correct — the news follows you!

Since I don’t listen to AM stations let us skip to the best way to catch the latest events which is to watch TV. There are various local and international stations to choose from. Personally, I only watch news from ABS-CBN and CNN. Why? Because I think the other stations are biased. Especially NBN (since it’s the government official station) but I don’t say that they are indeed biased! Okay? It’s only my personal view.

Let’s concentrate with ABS-CBN and GMA… the two big network companies in the country. As usual, both are claiming that they are practicing responsible journalism.

Wait, before I continue, I have this to say: I’m not a avid kapamilya nor a certified kapuso.

If you still remember, our president commended GMA (the station) for broadcasting the real stories. Or was it because GMA (the station) is only airing news that has nothing to do and will not destroy the reputation of the palace? If this is true it will prove my theory that these stations are biased.

So who is prevailing the truth? Nobody knows. If they really want to give service to our fellow Filipinos they should be practicing serbisyong totoo. Right? All we want is balanced news and fearless views!

PS: Oh, go BJ and Tyler (Amazing Race 9)! [EDIT] Woot! The hippies won! I thought they will never make it! And I just noticed that Jeremy looks like Aldred of PBB. < ?php /* I'm just going to hide something. Here it is: http://www.jaunted.com/story/2006/4/3/93331/35157/celeb/Amazing+Race+9%3A+Eric+%26amp%3B+Jeremy%27s+Half+Naked+Party+Photos */ ?> [/EDIT]

PSS: Who’s looking for a host? Yeah, hosting in here is for invitational only but since I don’t know who wants to get hosted, I’m going to ask who wants to be hosted! So, do you want to be hosted eh?

  1. ooh, i love your post!

  2. Benedick

How do you react to the R-18 rating for The Da Vinci Code?

  3. haha… i hate GMA’s motto “walang kinikilingan” but obviously biased nga sila kay GMA (GMA is for GMA nga haha). esp. when i watched ung first interview ni GMA after nya magdeclare ng state of emergency, it was really obvious that the channel wasn’t following what they tend to tell to their viewers, “a balanced journalism”. asan na un nung dun pinili ni GMA na magpainterview and the president herself even plugged the channel na mas ayos ung GMA unlike the other channel which i know she was referring to the rival network. wtf was that?

i think both channels are not really after on showing the truth but they are more into who’s on top of the business and who’s the best, they’re up to the power, priviledges and money! but still i even loathe kapuso haha…

uy gusto ko rin Amazing race pero im not particular with their names! basta bet ko ung mga hippies! sila ba un tinutukoy mo? ay shit ngayon na un di bah? teka… naalala ko tuloy… haha cge!

  4. Louie! Musta na? Haven’t registering for UNLIMITXT ha. Hehe. Got a blog. =p Simple lang. God bless you! Link me ah.

  5. yeah you’re so good at it. news are totally useless and senseless whenever the topic is so out of range and not helping people. i know that it’s not good to let your kid drink bleach but they really shouldn’t. one time, there was a lady who talked to me in a bus and told me not to watch on filipino channels like 7 and 2, for they deliver unworthy and less-educational topics especially through news. one should read and watch english channels like cnn. it was a bright idea, but not really good. one shouldn’t forget nationalism. right?

  6. Its funny how young kids laugh at really horrible things like seeing a guys hand get ripped off when they are suppose to be tramatized or something. I don’t like the news so much here because something bad is always happening.

  7. When I saw GMA7’s “responsible journalism ad,” the one with GMA, Erap and Susan Roces, I cringed. Natural, binootlick na ‘yung mga ‘yon somehow. Or perhaps the other station said something unpleasant about them, so they did that to get even.

But sometimes, I also don’t like the way ABS-CBN covers news. Like what happened at their sensationalized coverage of the military standoff (kuno) during GMA’s Proc 1017 days. Sobrang tagal kaya no’n, tapos paulit-ulit lang ‘yung sinasabi ng reporter.

  8. Yeah me too. I don’t like GMA (the station). Kainis pa yung tagline nila sa mga news program nila, ‘walang kinikilingan, serbisyong totoo lamang’ or something like that. Argh! As if they’re doing that. Hah.

Anyway, about the broadsheet. Yeh, I like Inquirer better. And LOL! ‘good to bad’. Benta ah. ;p You got a point, reading the newspaper back to front is like reading it from good to bad. HAHAH :P
Yeah, tabloid = total nonsense :P

  9. ‘Ts the problem with Philippine media, seriously. Dapat kapag media ka, wala kang kinikilingan, you’re just there to deliver the news. You should not bat an eyelid. Pero kadalasan, hindi. No wonder maraming napapatay.

  10. tabloids are hilarious sometimes. we are subscribed to daily inquirer. however, i dont exactly read newspapers (except if there is something major going on), but someday i know i’ll learn to appreciate it. haha.

  11. Tabloids makes rubbish news, I agree, broadsheets, on the otherhand, makes no-nonsense news. But I don’t really read broadsheets unless I’m required to do so. LOL. But I watch the news on TV. I prefer ABS instead of GMA. I think ABS delivers news with credibility.

P.S. Showing na ang The Davinci Code!
P.P.S. Please change my link. thanks!

  12. AM station? bakit ganun sa FM ka na lang.. la lang…

BJ and Tyler rocks i so love them a lot!

Si Aldred? hindi ah mas cute pa nga si aldred…
