Mega ultra stampede
[EDIT] Someone was able to hack (sort of) my site. He/she changed the latest entry on my gbook stating that I stole the script that I used for my gbook. No, I did not steal it! It’s from codegrrl.com. I have a link to codegrrl over the links page! For the mean time, I will disable my askme and gbook. [/EDIT]
Today is the first anniversary of ABS-CBN’s noon time show Wowowee. Frankly speaking, I hate this noon time show. Well, because there are so few hosts and guests. But you have to know that this show is not for those people who are looking for entertainment (sort of); this show is for our poor countrymen who are trying to catch their lucks. A show that tells the people who are living in the slums that there is still hope. But there is still this fact that some are joining the games of Wowowee because of their personal necessities. Until now, I can’t believe that this noon time show have a very high ratings (am I right?).
The first anniversary of the said noon time show was to held at Ultra. But an unexpected accident happened.
The world turned up-side down in just a second.
A big twist of fate.
Instead of 20 tricycles, some taxi cabs and two million pesos (about $40,000) of prizes are at stake. Lives of many people were in danger. A stampede occurred this morning. If my resources are up-to-date and are correct, there are already 80 plus people who died, mostly are elderly women.
I only knew this news around 11:00am because I was surfing the internet. At first I was thinking, “Stampede at Ultra? Hu? Is there an event there at the moment? Is there a concert? Was there a bomb found that’s why there was a stampede?”
The reason: somebody tripped on a ramp. Very impossible eh? I can’t believe it that only because someone tripped, a stampede occurred.
The consequences: aside from those 80 plus people who died, there were hundreds of people who were injured, many children were lost in the midst of that tragedy and Wowowee’s first anniversary was not pushed through.
While I was watching the news, I got irritated again. Well, I was flipping the channels from ABS-CBN to GMA over and over again (the news was not yet at CNN nor BBC). And grr… there was this women that was interviewed by a reporter from GMA. She’s telling the reporter that she’s mad because she was not able to enter the auditorium. Wow! Does not she have any single piece of feeling? There was a mayhem that happened and then there are still stupid people who does not have any common sense! This is going to support my statement above (that those people who are joining Wowowee are greedy).
It’s so nice to hear that there are still many people who are helping these poor people. I even heard in the news that there are some who are giving flip flops to the victims. And I’m so glad that the management of ABS-CBN will shoulder all the expenses of the victims even though they have no faults whatsoever.
This day was supposed to be a good one for all of the people who went to Ultra, and now, it seems like that a dementor sucked all of our happiness.
This is the irony of life…
This is my way to express my sympathy to the families of the victims…

It’s sad that human desire for money can result to something tragic. And that woman, sheesh. Hello, almost 100 people died because of a stampede and she has the guts to utter those words. How indifferent! This incident reminds me of Juan Tamad who’s waiting for the guava to fall off the tree.
Oo nga daw, may nagfalse alarm ng may bomba. Namatay rin sana yung nagfalse alarm(masama ba ako?). Nainip yata kasi the pace was very slow daw
That’s why when I heard the news, I felt no contempt nor disdain against ABS CBN.

Though I really wanted some of them to be erased from the face of ABS-CBN because of their J.LOgs factor, I can’t help but to feel bad for them. I could never blame these people. Everyone of them wanted better lives, and that was the opportunity for them to bring home some bread. And these people went… and they pushed… and got the toll. One thing I can draw from that tragedy: Crab mentality’s finest hour.

Actually, I found that show very boring and corny.
Anyways I read the whole story in the internet. I pity those people who are willing to sacrifice their lives to raise their families from poverty. And about that person who people believed, shouted “Bomba”, I hope he/she dies. One simple mistake could lead to something worse. And about that woman? Tsk. I pity her, for her greed of money will bring her down to hell.

Thanks again for your comment!

May p.e. class ako nung nangyari yan. At nung umalis yung prof ko, biglang sinabi samin nung classmate ko. Grabe nagulat talaga ako. At the same time, kinilabutan ako sa nangyari. You’re right, halos mga matatanda ang namatay.
Nakakalungkot kung iisipin. Mabuti na lang at abs cbn ang gagastos sa mga yan. Haaay. Nakakaawa sila.

hay parehas tayo ng pinost sa blog. nakakalungkot tlaga ung nangyari noh? sobrang hirap talaga ng bansa natin kaya daming umaasang manalo ng mga papremyo kaya pumunta sila dun sa ultra then ganun na lang with just one twist of fate nga. tsk tsk tsk…

Honestly, some people can be so insensitive. But I never really liked ABS-CBN shows, especially that game show hosted by Revillame, who is as bastos as anyone can ever be.
I’m tired of hearing about the accident Flip the channels, and you get the smae old news. They’re making this tragedy as a means of popularity. I hate it.

enjoy namana ang wowowie…i dunno…theres a factor sa mga taga ibang bansa that made us lvoe this show…i even went there when I had a vacation there sa pinas..it was fun! now, thinking what had just happened, i can’t help but feel really sad, and think on how poverty has gotten us to.

February 9, 2006 @ 2:02 am
hi louie de na ako nakadaan dito ah hehehe mas update ka pala sa nangyaring stampede pero nabsa ko na sa iba… may sala ang ABSCBN becoz of criminal negligence… 2 times na itong nangyari sa knila na nagkaron ng stampede pero kulang sa preparation and security so maaring mawawalan daw sila ng lisensya pag napatunayan sila ang major na may kasalanan… well the findings is not yet done… let’s see what happen and im hoping that those would have justice.

Atlast, someone who thinks the same as me regarding the Wowowee incident! xD~ lol Yes yes… people are being very greedy for money to the extent that they don’t even notice that they’ve already trampled over a poor old woman… But it’s quite understandable why they’re so desperate to get in and get a chance to win… it’s because of poverty. That’s why. Money solves the poverty they endure, that’s why they would risk anything just to have it.
