And the race is on

My computer’s processor is only Pentium III and the OS that I’m using is Windows XP. Actually, I don’t really care whatever processor my computer has or if the OS that I’m using isn’t the latest. What I really care about are the programs that are installed. As long as I have the necessary programs that I will need for school and for creating a website, I’m already okay with it.

There are only three games that are currently installed in my computer other than the preinstalled ones (Minsweeper, Solitare, etc.) and I’m planning the remove them soon as I’m not playing them anymore. Last weekend, we slept somewhere else in Pampanga. As I can’t bring my computer with me and I can’t resist surfing the internet, I spent some of my time in an internet café. And instead of surfing the internet, I ended up playing Prince of Persia. And now, I want to install it in my computer. But then again, it is okay for me even if I don’t have it.

What I always play is a game that I call “Make-a-layout-that-suits-my-taste”. I like doing layouts (especially if I had time and I’m not on a layout block) and most of the time, I end up with layouts that I personally don’t like. Game over. I have to start all over again. If I passed level one, of course, I would proceed to level two where I have to code the layoutÂ… and you know what happens next and the next after next… I don’t have to write it here, really.

(Wait, who told you that this was your computer? Lol.)

Yesterday was the start of the Amazing Race. Actually, I watched both the via satellite and the prime time telecasts of the said show. It looks like Tyler and James will win the race so I will go for them, if they were eliminated before the last leg, I would go for the beauty queens! I did not expect that two teams will be eliminated by the end of the first leg. What’s more, the ones who were eliminated were the teams who were introduced with profound faith. On the other hand, I can’t believe that Kimberly (the one who was wearing a prosthetic) was able to scale up the Great Wall of China using a rope even though she struggled for some time.

I think some of the excitements of the Amazing Race have gone but I’m looking forward to see the next episodes. And I want to see what are the new twists the writers did in this season.

Currently, I’m reading a novel called Lost and Found by Carolyn Parkhurst. You know, it’s addictive. Lol. I already finished the half of it. The only bad thing is that it is expensive. If it was not on sale, it would have cost me PHP 589. But since it was on sale, just slash 20% from the regular prize and the answer you’ll get was the amount of money I paid for it. Just do the math okay?

It’s a story of the people who are playing in a reality based show. At first I did not know why the title of the book was like that but after reading the first few pages, I found out that it’s also the title of the show. This reality based show is like the Amazing Race and Treasure Hunt rolled into one. It’s just like I’m watching the Amazing Race when I’m reading it. The only difference is that there are also behind the camera scenes.

The contestants have personal secrets and have undergone audition because the producers hope that they will burst during the course of the race which can make the ratings of the show higher. It’s a story of a mother and her daughter who had some sort of misunderstanding, a married couple who proclaims themselves as “ex-homosexuals”, two brothers (one of them has a sick child), a pair of a former child stars (one of them wants to reach the peak of her career again), a couple of weird millionaires, a couple of former high school sweethearts and a pair of flight attendants. (Actually, the last three teams are just some sort of extras because the story is not really evolving around them).

As I already mentioned homosexuality. I want to say this: one of my teachers accused Sam Milby as gay. What do you think?

  1. Actually, I donÂ’t really care whatever processor my computer has or if the OS that IÂ’m using isnÂ’t the latest. What I really care about are the programs that are installed.

    Ditto.

Yeah, AR was wonderful! Thank gawd for Studio 23’s satellite coverage, since I don’t have cable TV here. So you’re rooting for the hot models. I think it’s too early to predict who’s gonna win, so I’m not gonna cheer for a team right now. Hmmm… And oh, don’tcha find it weird that two teams were eliminated at the first episode?
Lost and Found huh? A book about reality show contestants. Interesting.

  2. Heh, geesh. I’ve never ever been addicted to computer games since I’ve come face to face with the internet. But like you, I always itch to remove unwanted programs in the computer. Sadly, it isn’t even mine to begin with, but I treat it as my baby. I used to be a layout whore, but - what happened? ^_^
Rawr! Never watched those kinds of shows. Maybe I should start to, because, you know, I can’t relate with most blogs I read about it, lol.

I almost never buy not-on-sale books. Php528 is already my allowance in a week! (Well, actually the book’s more expensive, boohoo!) But I sacrifice every now and then, if I hear the book’s good. Ooh, nice. Yet another reality show, eh? Cute nga pala yung Treasure Hunt, lol.

Sam Milby is…Hateable. Rawr! Whether he is a gay or not doesn’t matter. He’s not cute. He’s not adorable. He’s not a good singer. He’s just good at panggigigil on the songs whenever he sings, and making pa-cute all over the place. Waaah! Sorry Louie, I really don’t like him, lol. I don’t like him if he’s gay, and I still wouldn’t like him if he’s not.

  3. I totally agree with you when it comes to making layouts. That’s kinda like a hobby I can’t help doing. But most of them are just bunch of scraps filled with pictures and brushes and such. But sometimes it does feel like an accomplishment once you’ve done a really good one.

    Anyhoo, just dropping by. :)

  4. Pentium III at XP din ako. Cool. Pero when Vista comes out, you might want to change your thoughts about upgrading. :)
Almost every newcomer who becomes famous is accused of being gay. Not that I am defending Sam here. I just see a pattern.
@Shari: Oh no. Hehehe. SAM!!! LOL.

  5. hey louie! hrmmm i’m wondering if you’ve got a Windows XP installer on hand, i lost my cd and I really need to re-install it on my pc! shucks I did just the same on my pc - cleared a lot of programs and defragmented it a few times to boot! now it works faster :) and oh yeah, watching folks compete could be entertaining:grin:

  6. Pentium 4 rocks dude. Hehe.. kidding. I never really got addicted to PC games except for Diablo when I was in HS. Too mad, it was too tough for me.. hindi ko natapos hanggang sa nareformat yung PC :(
Sam is a very bad singer. Hehe.

Hey Check out The Hundred Secret Senses by Amy Tan. It’s my favorite now

  7. I have a Pentium Celeron III (700 mhz) PC with a ripped-off Genuine Microsoft Windows XP Sp2 stolen from a computer shop. And I agree… it’s the ‘user’ and the ‘use’ that makes your PC essential. Third is its capacity of usage. I hear people bragging about omfg I have the latest blah-blah whatever but they don’t even know how to edit pictures using the simplest Microsoft Word. SO much for their bragging, eh?

And oh… speakign of PC games, I’m addicted to yahoo downloadables. For the console, am still using PS. No plans of buyign PS2. We’ll wait for 3. Lol! ^_^ —-
Philippine destination is the only reason I watched Amazing race. I just hate people fooling their fellow contestants with all their treacheries et al.

  8. Hahahaha! What a fun game you play in your pc. Prince of Persia is a really hard game and tough brains are needed to finish it. You should install it if you want a challenging game.

I have never tried watching the Amazing Race but you make me want to…I hope I buy the time. ;)
And Sam Milby as gay? Ha! No way man…am not his fan, but I don’t think he’s gay. Maybe your teacher is just insecured.

  9. your computer is ok ganyan din ang computer ko, fuunctional wise oks na oks sya.

gusto ko rin yung amazing race, naisip ko nga dati sumali dyan, kaso di naman ganun kadali hehe.. kaya hanggang nood nalang

  10. Sam Milby… is so not gay.. HE CANT BE!! :rawr: hehehe anyway, Lost and Found sounds like a real good book… sounds interesting..

i like playing the make a layout game too… but nowadays i never seem to get past level one..

  11. :lmao:
Layouts galore! I love doing layouts, especially if I have the right tools to make one.

Anyway, I also watched the premiere episode of The Amazing Race and I liked the beauty queens right off the bat. I just hope they will go far in the race. No matter how bitchy they become on the next legs, I still hope they reach the final leg.

Oh, and I think the disabled woman’s name is Sarah. Yun lang.

Lost and Found seems pretty interesting. It looks like my kind of book! Haha. :lolz:

  12. Well, to answer your question shari? Sam Milby and Piolo Pascual are not gay..It’s juz that there are some people out there has nothing to do with their lives but to destroy other people reputations…There are some people are so envious with their popularity now as we all know..I mean it’s not fair to judge a person cause God will judge us too in whatever situations we are in…Instead of badmouthing other people lives let’s juz try to be entertained and enjoy and be happy..then everybody feels better, right? So we’re always here behind you “Hearthrob” forever…no matter what…More power and God bless both of your career!

  13. This issue of “Gay” thing you’ve always asked man is a crap!!!! Tell your teacher to shut up! And why can’t u throw this question back to him…okey? It’s only insinuate insecurity to his part though..He better teach the right thing in school than to judge a person which he didn’t do anything wrong for him…
