After all, it’s only fiction

Teachers effect eternity.

But will you agree with me if I’ll say writers can also effect eternity?

Children hates books. But thanks to JK Rowling, she had convinced many children to read books with the help of Harry Potter. But as what many says (including me), no one can please everybody. I saw some news in the local programs where anti-HP (sad to say, some religions hate HP) burn Harry Potter books. They say HP teaches children (and even grown ups) sorcery and it’s exposing satanism.

Wow! Those people have a brighter and more imaginative brains than JK Rowling! I congratulate them!

I think I’m not violating any rules set by our Lord. As long as we don’t praise Harry Potter, practice sorcery and exposing satanism we’re not out of bounds. Duh! HP is only a fictional character who’s only living behind pages, chapters, books and in the big screens.

After reading the HP Books (even Dan Brown’s the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons) I still go to church to listen to the teaching of our savior and the likes.

Next week is going to be Holy Week. If Christmas is the season of giving (and its true meaning is sharing), Lent is the season where we do sacrifices.

I suppose we should not blog, surf the internet nor open our computers next week. Seriously, I will be doing this. I think this is the biggest sacrifice we can make (I’m talking to blog, internet and computer addicts). Come on, this won’t last. I’ll would only take some days or a week and after that you can turn your computers on again.

I don’t care if you’ll call me stupid or say that I’m too religious because you’re the one who’s stupid.

  1. if they are burning harry potter books they might as well burn fairy tales that they read to their children everynight as well. christians tend to overreact and make things that are so harmless such a bad thing.

  2. hallo! me? i still hates reading books… ive read some lines na in Hp Book and also watched all the 1234 hahaha… mas gusto ko paring panoorin kaysa basahin.. for me…ako din try ko nga rin yang sacrifice na yan hahaha… dis sunday will be Psalm Sunday na ayt? hehehe i think me and my mom will go to church.. :) Im glad youre back!

  3. duh. HP is fictional. as well as Dan Brown’s novels. well, depende naman sa tao un eh. like you, nabasa ko na rin yan lahat pero walang nagbago sa faith ko. yesterday sa news, our church priests or whatever are preparing for release of the Da Vinci code movie here in our country. they’re preparing newspaper articles abt it and all. they said na yung mga taong mahina ang faith ang prone sa confusion pag napanood yan kaya kailangan nila magrelease ng something na pangotra sa movie.

buti ka pa uuwi ng province with yer relatives. kami hindi dito lang sa bahay. hehehe. that’s why for me it will be so boring. and yeah naisip ko na next week di muna ko mag-online. my personal sacrifice. hehe.

  4. I agree with gee. Fictional lang yung mga novels na yan. Those people who take ‘em seriously are fucked up. So don’t mind them.

Anyway, the whole family and myself will be at the province this holy week. No PC there, so no internet and blogging for me. :-)

  5. Yeah. I agree. We should sacrifice next week.. Kaso sa ibang tao parang wala lang ang holy week. pang vacation nila. that’s sad. ::\

  6. Hello! Sorry tagal kong hindi na-visit site mo ah. Anyways, I’ll be in Batangas this Holy Week. Great timing, huh? But ofcourse, my parents said we’re going to look for a church there on Sunday.

  7. Don’t mind them. They’re such a bunch of twirps. Nothing in HP is satanic, yeah, a big DUH to that.

  8. i dont hate books.. Its just hard to keep me interested.

About da vinci… Its a cool book but nah.. heck no.. di naapektuhan faith ko dun.. pero for some lalo na sa mahina ung paniniwala cguro sila magbabago paniniwala nila..

I have my own sacrifices this holy week…hehehe

  9. hahaha.. yeah, fiction books remain fiction..
it really depends on the person though… a book will be bad for him if it hinders him with his relationship with God. so I guess if HP makes you wanna be a witch or what, then dont read it na. :dizzy: and yea…i think thats a good idea. no internet and blogging for the holy week.

  10. hihi. ako nga may ebook pa nun. hehe. adik. :)

  11. :duh: as if burning HP books will do good. i mean, burning = pollution.

    haha.. just joking! ;p

:lolz: seriously, they should get a life.

wow. it’s nice to hear, somebody would actually sacrifice just for the sake of Holy Week! Rock on!

    Hehe.. \m/

P.S.: It’s good to be back here. Have a nice day! *hugs*

  12. Tam

Just like what my Engl5 instructor said; there’s nothing wrong reading those books. if you have strong faith; hindi naman magigimbal yun eh. There’s a line between fiction and non-fiction.

I liked books when I was a kid; gustong gusto ko kasi yung mga pictures na nandun eh! Harhar

  13. those people who take them seriously are just plain stupid… DUH! only FICTION!
