Boo!

First of all, I want to greet everyone a Happy Creepy Hallowe’en!

Let’s talk something scary or shall I say anything that is supposed to be spooky?

First on the list is a costume party. I want to go back to my childhood years and throw a hallowe’en party! No, not the typical of party where boys have to go on a Dracula costume with red lipstick on the sides of their mouth and girls have to go on a Cinderella (make sure you’re only wearing a shoe or Snow White (with matching twelve dwarfs) costume. You see, I was able to read an article in the 2BU section of the Philippine Daily Inquirer last week that suggested some ideas for a hallowe’en party. The one that I liked most was the vegetable-themed party! Lol. I would be in a pumpkin costume! Just don’t go in a carrot costume, I’m afraid Bug’s Bunny would also attend the party! Lol!

I can still remember those old days where we had hallowe’en party in school. A hallowe’en party won’t be complete if there was no Mummy Relay, it’s a game where a person covers another person with tissue. This one is best played on one-ply tissue paper! There were even non-hallowe’en related games like the kissing card game (suck and blow game) which I really hate! There’s a tendency that you could kiss straight to the lips the previous and/or next person to you! (What if the previous and/or next person to you comes from the same gender as you?). And there was this one hallowe’en party that I and some of my classmates did not attend! Where were we at that time? We were in the computer room of our school, doing our school publication and playing some computer games! Call us KJ if you want. We don’t like to mingle with some of the students in our school!

Second, I don’t really like watching horror movies! They make my blood vessels numb! The last one which I was able to see was “Mortuary”, good thing it was not that scary. Actually, there was this one point in the movie where I and my friends laughed. Isn’t it weird that the zombies in the movie are afraid of NaCl

Third on my list is the Horror Train, were you able to ride one? Well, I was able to ride one on my junior year. It was really hilarious and ridiculous! I was really laughing hard during the ride. It did not even send the creeps out of me! How will I get scared? The sun was up (I think that was in the afternoon) when I had my first try on it. And there was also somebody throwing talcum powder to the person who was supposed to be scaring us to death!

The last one is about a Horror House. During my grade school days, there was one in school. It was not scary at all, it was only dark. And I was able to get a bump on my head because there were chairs scattered around the room.

Oh, I just had lungs for lunch! Yummy!

Overloaded

I enrolled yesterday for the second semester. I haven’t shifted yet to another course. Actually, I had a fight with my father about it during the first part of the month. Also, I want to say that I hate my schedule! I have to wake up at 5:00am as I still have to travel for one hour and my last period won’t end until in the afternoon (except for Mondays and Saturdays).

And still, I’m overloaded with 29.0 units!

Here is a list of my subjects: CFE2 (I’m pretty excited with this one), CHM03a (as long as it has a computation part, I’m saved! Lol! Wait, do you know if there’s a computation part in this?), ENG02a (I hope it’s the same instructor that we had last semester in ENG01a who would handle us), FIL02a (I hope it will not be a boring subject), ICT110 (I think I will like this subject very much), NSTP2(CWTS) (I will not expect anything from this subject), PE02 (no comment), PHL03 (looks frightening) and ZOO01 (no memorization please!).

As for my grades, I got six line of 9’s and three line of 8’s. Happy? I think so…

The day when I got so lucky

Here’s the story on how I got PHP 50.00 worth of prepaid load and PHP 125.00 in school last Friday.

My original plan last Friday was that I would only watch the quiz bee so as to support my blockmates and after it, I would go back home. You see, it was our college day two days ago (actually, it started last Thursday and it yesterday). If it was not for the attendance, I did not go to school!

During the latter part of the contest proper I had this SMS conversation with one of my HS friends.

Christian: Woot! Nakakuha ako ng 50 na load!
Perfect: Sige, makakarma ka rin niyan!
Christian: Hindi kaya! Nakasagot ako kanina dun sa mga tanong para sa mga audience, nanonood kasi ako ng quiz bee
Perfect: Basta, makakarma ka pa rin niyan, sinusumpa ko!
Christian: Whatever!

Sorry for those poeple who can’t understand Filipino/Tagalog, I don’t have time to translate it. Just before the championship round, the quiz master announced that there were questions for the audience to answer and whoever would answer the question correctly would get load! Pakapalan na ng mukha… I was able to answer the question “What city would host the Olympics in 2012?”, why wouldn’t I know the answer? It’s the place I want to go someday… London!

And just before the quiz bee had ended, the karma that my friend was telling me came. I thought at first it was a bad karma and in the end, I realized that it was a good one. Talking about blessing in disguise…

One of the members of the faculty was calling me and my two blockmates who were with me (one of them was a contestant in the quiz bee but alas, he was eliminated). We were asked to enter a room packed with other students. Another blockmate of mine also entered the room (also a contestant of the quiz bee who was eliminated), she thought that we were already going so she went with us.

And after some more seconds we were surprised that we were the contestants in a reality based show oriented competition, no it’s not PBB, it’s more like the program of the other channel which was now removed from the face of the television!

Yeah, we were proclaimed as the contestants, on the spot! What’s this? “Impromptu Challenge”? Lol. There were six teams, composed of four students (one contestant from each level) and a member of the faculty. My team was the white also known as transparent team (hey, when did white become transparent?). Obviously, my other three blockmates were in the other teams. During that time, I can’t help but laugh, you see, I thought “on the spot” was only applicable in HS, but now I knew that there is also “on the spot” in college and the faculty members were so funny! You won’t even think that they were instructors!

It was really like playing in a TV show, but this time, no cameras, no interviews and lower amount of prizes. In the first phase (there were three phases), there were six challenges. The main objective was to gain the most little amount of time. We had three minutes to finish every single task, failure to finish a task will mean time penalty.

The first challenge was intradermal (I’m not sure if it’s called like that or how it’s done) where somebody from the group had to inject distilled water on our skins. It was really painful! It was like ten bees puncturing a certain part of your skin! It was the only challenge that we were able to finish. The second one was Pinoy henyo where a piece of paper will be pasted/tapped on your forehead (something like that) and you had to guess the word/s in that paper correctly with the help of another person who can only answer by yes, no or maybe so as to limit your ideas and in the end, arrive with the correct answer. The third was something like “kissing card game” … the game that I hate most. The first person had to suck a piece of plastic and pass it to the next person by blowing it, and in return that next person would suck it and the process goes on until the last person gets it. In the fourth challenge, three of us had to hold folders to guide a ball to a paper bag, one had to drop the ball and that ball had a question in it which another contestant has to answer. The fifth one was called “Fear Factor”, there were five pieces of styrofoam on a table, every member of the group had to choose one and eat whatever inside it. The choices: earthworms, rats, lizards, flies, and black beetles… all alive and kicking! Joke! The real choices were donut, lemon, tomato, one day old egg, and an uncooked egg. The one that I get was the donut! Haha! I think it was from Go Nuts Donuts because it was so sweet! Lol! The last task was to do a puzzle! There were five puzzles, one for each member and it was only the fourth year student who was able to finish her puzzle.

After the times were tabulated, we were surprised that we were still on the game! Whoa! Two teams were eliminated. Phase two was easier, all we had to do was to listen to a clue and form the answer out of the letters of our college. Alas we lost (there was also another team that was eliminated). The good part was that our team ended with 3rd place and we received PHP 500.00! We had to divide it into five as we were five in the group. The faculty member we had in the group decided to give to us his prize so all in all, I got PHP 125.00 from joining that challenge!

The next time that we will have our college days, I’ll make sure that I will watch the quiz bee and that I will be a contestant of the challenge! Lol!

Appetizers, anyone?

Yeah… I know, this is just the appetizer; there is still the main course, entremets or desserts to go but let me tell you what the appetizers I had tasted like.

My first helping of appetizer was consisted of Eng01, Fil01a, Psy01, Mat02, SSc01b, Chm01a, CFE1, PE01 and NSTP01. Some did not taste good, one of which was very intoxicating that you want to puke once it traveled down to your digestive track. But at least the others were sweet and spicy! Lol!

Psy01
Sour. Not an easy subject but not also a hard subject. What you need to do to pass this subject was to stock all the pieces of information you get to your long term memory and properly encode, store and retrieve the memory. Obviously it’s pure memorization. On the brighter part, our instructor was always late with an average of fifteen minutes and it’s even our first class during MWF.

CFE1
Tastes like water! This is what is known as Theology in other universities. Just maintain your faith in God and read your book with comprehension and you’re saved! The lessons were easy to understand as the instructor we had was good and has a sense of humor. Isn’t that great? I pretty enjoyed this subject. I had a greater knowledge on what’s in the Bible. It really cleanses the body like water!

Fil01a
Delicious! Just laugh and laugh and laugh and watch your grades. This is the Filipino subject that I enjoyed most. It’s not about pangngalan (noun), panghalip (pronoun), pandiwa (verb) and the like this time. It’s more on memorization, memorization with a touch of fun. Thanks to our funny professor! A meeting with her would not pass without the class bursting into laughter.

PE01
Tastes like an unripe fruit (mapakla). It really makes me tired! Who would want having a fifteen minute presentation of an aerobic dance? I hate it! Oh, it was PE day yesterday, our class won the 2nd place for gymnastics! Woot!

SSc01b
Tastes like a mixture of vinegar, soy sauce, salt, sugar, butter, pepper, onion, cheese, fish sauce (patis) and its stinky sister shrimp paste (bagoong), and syrup. Actually, the original taste was like syrup but thanks to our illiterate and unprepared instructor who added the rest. You see, the subject isn’t that hard at all but because of our instructor who knows “second to the last” as “last to the second” he made it hard. Hey, I think he’s one of the primitive apes, I just don’t know which but I bet he’s one of the survivors of the Java men. By the way, the book’s really perfect for him, it has tons of wrong grammar and spelling.

Chm01a
Combine sodium and chlorine in a beaker and add some water to make NaCl solution. Whatever! This subject definitely tastes like salt! As what I had expected the computation part was easy to medium hard and the memorization part was hell! Argh! I had to memorize the oxidation numbers of the common elements, cations and anions! I just hope you understand Chemish. Lol.

NSTP1
It tastes like the food that you don’t like to eat anymore but was one of your favorites in the past. What a very boring subject! And I think there’s something wrong with what we had studied; we were discussing volunteerism but we are required to render our services to the community. It’s not that I don’t like to help the people below the poverty line. It’s just that there is some conflict with what we study and the things that we are required to do especially next semester.

Mat02
I don’t really know what it tastes like… Salty? Sweet? Or do I have dysgeusia? I know all the things that we discussed. But this time, the problems that our instructor gave us were harder to solve. So, so, so complicated!

Eng01
It’s insanely delicious like the donuts of Go Nuts Donuts (but I don’t really like them). It’s all about grammar. It’s an easy subject to pass, I can’t see any reason for a student to fail this subject. As for our instructor, I really like her. She reminds me of my English teacher when I was still in junior HS, both knows so many things! What’s more was that our instructor was so kind. She even treated the whole class! Would you believe that? She treated us! Sadly, on the time she scheduled her treat, my blockmates were nowhere, they were in the accounting office, piled in a line that was as long as the line of a blockbuster movie. It made her mad, good thing some of my classmates did something to cheer her up!

I still have many foods left on my plate, I don’t need another helping at the moment. At least, it’s the semestral break and I can have time to empty my plate before I will be called to get another serving.

*****

As it’s the semestral break, this site will experience a major revamp, especially the contents. I already changed the layout which took me some time to finish it! Whoa! I had to start from the beginning, especially for the coding part. I think my HTML skills are beginning to diminish! Help me! Anybody who has any solution to fix this layout in Internet Explorer feel free to drop your suggestions.

As for ASTEEG.NET, start saying your goodbyes to it. I think I’m not going to renew this site. I’m thinking of buying a new domain sometime before this site will expire. But then again, I can also opt to buying a redirecting site and try to look for somebody who will host my site; it’s cheaper.
