Irony

I love Math; I was the best in this subject during my senior HS days. And now, I dunno what’s happening to me. I was able to get a failing score in our test which according to our instructor is the easiest. Here are my theories why I failed that test:

  • During my HS days and even GS days we were thought that -22 is equal to four. And now, our instructor told us that it should be -4 and it will only be positive if it is (-2)2. See the difference? Sometimes, I still find myself confused about this. I need time to set my mind that -22 is equal to -4.
  • I was not practicing my Math skills during the holidays and now, I still need to condition my mind.

Now, where is my notebook during my last year in HS? I badly need it.

During the morning of this day, we had Chemistry (laboratory). Of all the branches of science, Chemistry is the branch I loathe most. I don’t really mind the computation part, besides, we are allowed to use calculator. But if you are talking about the memorization part, I’ve got a big problem; I hate memorization. And mind you, I still need to transfer my notes on a bond paper if I want to finish fast! I can hardly memorize if I’m memorizing directly from a book or notebook with all of the important terms underlined or marked plus some more notes scribbled on the margins of the book.

Guess what? Me and my group mates had a perfect score in our first ever lab experiment (and I think we were the only group who got top marks). Actually, I enjoyed it! I like the glass manipulation part where you have to bend glass tubing (of course, with the aid of fire).

Wow! I can’t believe that I found time to blog. You see, I have a very hectic schedule. Not like during my HS days, I can surf the internet everyday, even if we have major exams, but now, I think I can’t do that anymore. Time management is a must!

Oh, my parents asked me to look for an apartment near the university that I’m currently attending. Everyday when I arrive home, I already feel sleepy, thus, I can’t do much during evening and obviously, I can’t stay awake up to 11:00pm (my usual sleeping time during the holidays). And when I wake up I have to rush because I still have to allot 1.25 hours or else, I will be late (yeah, the university that I’m currently attending is 1.25 hours away from our house). You see, It’s not normal for me to commute everyday for 2.5 hours because during the six years of my school life, I only walk the distance between our house and school. But I haven’t started looking for one, besides, I can’t also find a friend who can bunk with me. Oh, don’t ask me to look for a dormitory instead because I don’t want to sociallize with other people especially if they’re a few years older than me.

It starts…

Now, if you’re only commenting because you want to get a comment from me, please think again. From now on, I may not be able to give back all comments. Please bear with me.

I’m officially a college student. As of now I’m still enjoying it.

During the night before the classes formally opened, I haven’t got sleep… I think it’s my insomnia. But I did not feel drowsy during the discussions.

I’m still in the “culture shock” mode; I’m having a hard time doing some conversations with my new classmates. Well, I have this classmate which I already met during my first year in high school. And I don’t have any classmate or batch mate in high school that is in the same section as mine. I found many people eager to gain new friends and I’m pleased that some were talking to me sometimes. And I think, these are the reasons why I find myself with my high school classmates during vacant periods.

I just hope they’ll not find this blog.

As of now, I think I already met all of our instructors except for NSTP and if we will have a separate instructor for Chemistry (lab). In general, I found my instructors very humorous. Or are they just really like that during the first meeting? Almost of the subjects that I’m taking looks interesting especially English, Math and Anthropology.

Wish me luck, okay?

Yeah… that’s it. I don’t want to make a long entry with detailed scenes on what happened to me because I know you won’t like that.

Rated PG13

I was browsing the Philippine Daily Inquirer yesterday and I found this spread (Super) with pictures of the PBB teen housemates minus Clare posed as caricatures of ‘this generation’. [EDIT] I’m not a PBB fan. [/EDIT] No, they were not the ones who caught my attention, it were the words “Teendependence day”.

Actually, there was only one article inside the spread titled “Drugs. Sex. Sloth. Please.” and here is the lead:

We decided to do a spread on what a lot of people say our generation is — apathetic, sex-crazy, media-obsessed, religionless drugies with parental issues and mondo insecurity.

Why? Because we can.

Pepe Diokno

And after a few more paragraphs…

We decided to do a spread what a lot of people say our generation is because we realize a lot of you read us to find out what’s cool and we need to tell you shouldn’t be doing that.

Because it’s never been about going with the flow and fitting in. It’s not about what’s in and out. It’s not about what you’ve tried and what you haven’t. We’re the ME generation — it’s about creating our own flows.

It’s about creating your own cool.

Birthday, mouse, classes, today and TLE

Okay, I’m not ignoring this blog for the past few days, it just happened that I don’t have something to share with you lately. Yes, I can’t think of a decent entry title for this.

*****

It was the 18th birthday of one of my high school classmates yesterday. No, she did not have an extravagant party where you have to come in formal attire. Half of my high school classmates were present. She treated us at the nearby Yellow Cab. I had a great time with them. We were so noisy that you can even hear our voices down stairs (we were eating at the second floor). It’s my second time to eat a pizza that was ordered at a branch of Yellow Cab. I don’t like it. I prefer Pizza Hut’s famous pizzas. But my classmates really like them. They were munching their pizzas enjoyably while I was pretending that I like those pizzas. I took two slices of pizzas, bad move. I was not able to finish my meal because I don’t really like them. Don’t ask me why I don’t like Yellow Cab, we have our own preferences. I may like something that you may not like and the other way around.

*****

A cat has slaughtered my two-months-old mouse. I already threw it somewhere because it’s already malfunctioning. Also, one was raped by a vicious cat and another one was killed by a tabby cat. Yesterday, I bought another mouse. I hope this new mouse will last for ages; I don’t want to spend my allowance for another mouse anymore. Oh, good thing the mouse that I bought comes with a free mouse pad. It’s not a fabulous mouse pad but it will do for me since my old mouse pad is getting a bit gross.

My classes will start on the 13th of this month — a day after Independence Day. I will be lying if I’ll tell you that I’m not excited but I still don’t want to go back to school. Yeah, it’s really ironic.

*****

It’s 06.06.06 today. Some says this day is an omen of chaos and the like. It’s the stupidest thing that I ever heard during the past month! Just like with Friday the 13th, if you believe that this is a bad day, for sure, you’ll have a bad day. If you think otherwise (just like me) you can have an ordinary day or an extravagant day full of surprises! Don’t be pessimistic!

*****

I heard (from my high school classmates) that our English teacher who knows “corridor” as “correidor”, who doesn’t even know how to spell “exorcism” & “ghost” and who we always laugh at because he doesn’t really know what he is teaching is now the current TLE (aka THE) teacher of our school. Most of us were laughing (during the party of my previous classmate) because of this. We just really can’t believe that he’s still in that institution as a teacher. I think the curriculum in TLE will be changed because a male teacher was able to secure this job. We can’t even imagine him doing all of those stuffs that our TLE teacher did when she was still teaching like baking. I also heard that our senior adviser laughed when she told this to my classmates! I think I know the reason why he became the TLE teacher, during the last days of the last school year, some of us were asked to evaluate our teachers, and this new TLE teacher got the lowest score from us… straight six (the lowest grade that we can give).
